Taylor Frankie Paul Granted Supervised Visitation With Her Son

Taylor Frankie Paul is allowed to see her son again.

After a two-week period following a temporary custody order for her 2-year-old son granted to her ex, Dakota Mortensen, the star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was given supervised visitation rights during a court hearing on April 7th.

The judge changed the temporary order, allowing Taylor up to eight hours of supervised visits with their child each week. These visits can be split into sessions lasting two or three hours each. This arrangement will continue until the next court hearing on April 30th.

On March 19th, Dakota requested a court order to protect her from Taylor, following the publication of a TMZ video showing a fight from 2023. The video depicted Taylor throwing a chair, and a child’s cries were audible. Taylor also has two children with her former husband, Tate Paul.

According to court documents obtained by People magazine on March 20th, Taylor was not granted any visitation rights with their son until a hearing scheduled for April 7th.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Dakota filed a restraining order against the 31-year-old, claiming she physically abused him on two occasions in February.

According to court documents, during a fight, Dakota claimed Taylor physically attacked him, pushing him into a window, and threatened self-harm. He also stated that her erratic behavior woke their son, and when he tried to soothe the child, Taylor allegedly continued to act aggressively, pulling the blankets off them. Concerned for their safety, Dakota left with their son and went to his own home.

According to court documents, Dakota claims that Taylor became angry the next night, throwing his phone at the wall and preventing him from leaving her house. He also stated that she grabbed and squeezed his face, threw a drink at him, and damaged his car as he was leaving.

According to court documents, Dakota requested a restraining order because he was worried about his and his child’s safety.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this situation closely. Recent court filings obtained by People magazine reveal that Taylor has requested a temporary restraining order against Dakota. She alleges a pattern of abusive behavior and controlling tactics throughout their relationship, which spanned from 2022 to 2025, even though they weren’t together consistently. This request comes before a hearing scheduled for April 7th.

According to court documents obtained by People magazine, the social media personality known as MomToker is requesting the court also include her and Dakota’s son in the protective order.

The hearing for Taylor’s protective order request will take place on April 30.

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Taylor and Dakota for comment and has not yet heard back.

Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette was canceled by ABC before it even aired, and she temporarily lost custody of her son. A representative for Taylor stated she was thankful for ABC’s support and is focusing on keeping her family safe.

After enduring years of severe mental and physical abuse, and fearing further threats, Taylor is now finding the courage to confront her abuser and is taking action to protect herself and her children from future harm.

For his part, Dakota described their current situation as “deeply upsetting.”

In a statement released on March 19th, he said he’s accustomed to false accusations regarding himself and their relationship, and he firmly denies them. He stated his priority is their son’s well-being and expressed hope that Taylor will share that focus.

The West Jordan Police Department in Utah has confirmed to NBC News they are investigating a third reported incident of domestic violence between Dakota and Taylor this year, separate from a 2023 video and other issues in February 2026.

For a full timeline of the allegations made between Taylor and Dakota, keep reading…

Taylor Frankie Paul, who gained popularity on TikTok as #MomTok, was arrested in Utah on February 17, 2023, following an altercation with her boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. According to court documents obtained by ABC 4 Utah, she allegedly threw metal chairs and a wooden playset at him while one of her children was present. She shares these children with her ex-husband, Tate Paul.

Court records show Taylor faces several charges, including aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence with a child present resulting in injury, simple child abuse, and criminal mischief, according to documents released by the Salt Lake County District Attorney and reported by TopMob News.

According to court documents, the Herriman police officer who arrived at the scene stated that Dakota told him he had been arguing with his girlfriend. The officer reported that Dakota said his girlfriend, Taylor, began hitting him when he tried to leave.

In August 2023, Taylor admitted guilt to a serious assault charge, as shown in court records obtained by the Salt Lake Tribune. Four other charges against them were dropped and cannot be filed again.

For three years, the charges against her were put on hold. If Taylor followed the conditions of her agreement, the case would then be filed as a Class A misdemeanor, according to court records.

As part of her agreement, Taylor was required to undergo evaluations for substance abuse and domestic violence, and complete any treatment recommended for her, all within three years. She also had to avoid breaking any major laws.

Taylor and Dakota welcomed their son a week ahead of schedule. On April 4, 2024, Taylor shared a photo from the hospital on Instagram, expressing their joy and writing, “These past two weeks with him have been wonderful. We all love him so much and are grateful he’s joining our family.”

Oh my gosh, you guys, Taylor finally talked about it! In an interview with TopMob News, they said the whole thing with Dakota was, like, totally their lowest point. They actually used the words ‘rock bottom’! I’m just… relieved they’re finally being honest about how hard it was. It’s so good to hear them acknowledge it!

She explained that he supported her because he understood what was really happening, even the things no one else knew. “It was a terrible night, and I really regret it,” she said. Dakota himself had gone through a difficult time, so he truly understood what she was feeling. He told her, ‘I want to help you get through this.’

As for the confrontation itself, she later said the incident had been building up.

She revealed on the Viall Files podcast in September 2024 that she’d experienced an ectopic pregnancy a few months earlier, followed by a chemical pregnancy. While hesitant to attribute it solely to hormonal imbalances, she acknowledged they likely played a role, saying she felt ‘pretty off.’

Taylor explained that she felt confused and upset by what happened, and admitted to drinking as a result. She said Dakota was upset with her for doing so, and picked her up while angry about it.

It’s a really difficult memory to revisit, but I recall being in such a state that I was throwing things around the house. I honestly didn’t even recognize my daughters, who were apparently on the couch. We had a babysitter, so they were likely asleep upstairs. It’s heartbreaking to admit, but someone – I think it was Dakota – tried to tell me my five-year-old was there, and I was so out of it, so lost in that moment, that I just… I threw another chair. I was completely unable to connect with reality or care about what was happening around me.

The reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiered on Hulu in September 2024, and the first episode opened with footage of Taylor’s arrest in 2023.

Taylor publicly announced her breakup with Dakota in May 2025, following a revelation on the second season premiere of SLOMW that Dakota had been unfaithful shortly after their son was born. She shared the news on TikTok with a simple message: “Dakota isn’t mine anymore, wish him the best.”

We were living happily with our new baby, and I was starting to think about getting engaged,” she shared. “Then I found out he’d been lying to me the whole time.

Let’s talk about navigating tricky situations, because honesty is key, even when it’s hard. On a recent episode of SLOMW, Dakota opened up about a mistake they made – an affair with a friend, Shinia Powell. They admitted to Taylor, in a really vulnerable moment over FaceTime, that it was a poor decision, and they knew going into it that this person would likely cause drama. Dakota really took ownership, saying they should have made a better choice and acknowledged the hurt it caused. It’s a powerful reminder that we all make mistakes, but taking responsibility is what truly matters.

Okay, you guys, I’m literally losing it! Taylor is going to be the Bachelorette for Season 22! I heard it straight from her mouth on Call Her Daddy last September – September 2025, to be exact! It’s SO crazy because they never pick someone who hasn’t already been on The Bachelor before, so this is a total shake-up for the show. I can’t even breathe, this is everything!

Taylor saw it as a positive development, explaining in a preview for the upcoming season, “I think this was meant to open up a new phase in my life.”

Taylor shared that she’s faced criticism, judgment, and rejection, but believes people who truly get to know her will see she’s sincere, has good intentions, and deserves another opportunity at love.

Just before Taylor started filming season 22 of The Bachelorette, a conversation with Dakota from season four of SLOMW resurfaced. In it, Dakota apologized for his relationship with Shinia, admitting it was a mistake and saying he felt bad about it.

He explained that both he and Taylor had caused each other pain, but he still thought they loved each other deeply.

The couple acknowledged their relationship was unhealthy, and Taylor believed appearing on The Bachelorette could actually be beneficial for both of them, no matter the outcome. She felt it would provide a much-needed opportunity for them to step back, end their pattern, and begin to heal.

Honestly, it broke my heart a little, but Dakota was surprisingly sweet. He told Taylor he was genuinely happy for her and wanted her to find someone she loved. Then, he just… asked her to keep a little space for him, saying, ‘Save a rose for me, okay?’ It was such a vulnerable thing to say, and you could tell he still had feelings.

Production on season five of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was temporarily stopped in February 2026 following a reported argument between Taylor and Dakota.

On March 16, a representative from the Draper City Police Department told People magazine they were investigating claims of domestic assault involving Taylor and Dakota. The representative stated that both individuals had made accusations against each other. Police made contact with those involved on February 24th and 25th, but are withholding further details while the investigation continues.

According to a source at TopMob News, Taylor is taking responsibility for her actions and is primarily focused on shielding her son, Ever, from negative press or anything that might reflect poorly on his father. She wants Ever to have a positive view of his father.

After Taylor and Dakota had a disagreement in 2026, TMZ released video of a physical fight between them that originally happened in 2023.

The video shows Dakota filming the altercation on his phone while Taylor shouts at him and tries to hit him, even briefly putting him in a headlock.

“Look,” Dakota can be heard saying, “this is called physical abuse.”

As things escalated, he claimed she pointed out their daughter was nearby, right before Taylor started throwing metal barstools at him. During the fight, Taylor accused him of pushing her down before he began filming, and he responded by blaming her and asking for help with their 5-year-old child. Taylor was later heard shouting for him to stay away from her daughter.

According to a police report obtained by TopMob News in 2023, the child was struck by a stool.

Following the video’s release, a representative for Taylor stated to TopMob News that it was part of an effort to damage her reputation. They said the video left out important information and was intended to shift attention away from Dakota’s behavior. Dakota, however, dismissed Taylor’s accusations as untrue.

Following the release of footage showing a disagreement between Taylor and Dakota in 2023, ABC announced it was cancelling season 22 of The Bachelorette. A Disney Entertainment representative told TopMob News that the decision was made, and their priority is now supporting those involved.

Following ABC’s decision, Taylor broke her silence about the situation.

Taylor is thankful for the support she’s receiving from ABC as she focuses on keeping her family safe. According to her representative, she has endured years of severe mental and physical abuse and threats, but is now finding the courage to confront her abuser and take action to protect herself and her children from future harm.

The statement also highlighted that many women are quietly enduring hardship caused by controlling, possessive former partners who won’t allow them to rebuild their lives.

Taylor’s representative said she is considering her next steps, getting support from others, and will eventually talk publicly about what happened.

Okay, so Dakota finally addressed everything with Taylor, and honestly, it was heartbreaking. He told TopMob News on March 19th that, if you’ve seen the video – and of course I have, multiple times – you’d understand how awful the whole thing is. It’s just… deeply upsetting, and he’s right. I feel so bad for everyone involved, but seeing that video… it’s just a lot.

He stated he was sadly accustomed to false accusations regarding himself and their relationship, and firmly denied them all.

Dakota said her priority is her son Ever’s well-being and safety, and she hopes Taylor will make his safety a priority too.

According to documents obtained by People magazine on March 20th, Dakota has been granted temporary custody of Ever after filing a protective order against Taylor. While a hearing is scheduled for April 7th to allow Taylor to present her side of the story, the current order prohibits either parent from spending time with Ever until then.

Utah police are investigating a new claim of domestic violence from 2024 that Dakota reported in February, according to a West Jordan Police Department spokesperson who spoke to NBC News on March 24. Investigators have contacted Taylor’s lawyer but haven’t yet spoken to Taylor directly. They are hoping she will provide a written statement or agree to an interview to confirm the details of Dakota’s report.
