Taylor Sheridan has finished filming season two of his newest Yellowstone spin-off, even though the first season hasn’t been released yet. It’s been a year since the original Yellowstone series concluded on Paramount+, and despite difficulties – mainly caused by Kevin Costner leaving his role – Sheridan created a big finale for the Dutton family. In the end, Beth and Kayce achieved their desired outcomes, but Jamie met an unfortunate fate.
The success of Yellowstone has led to several new shows created by Taylor Sheridan, all focused on the Dutton family. Kayce Dutton will take the lead in Y: Marshals, and Beth and Rip will be the focus of The Dutton Ranch. However, the most interesting new show might be The Madison, as it doesn’t directly follow the Duttons.
As a big fan of the show, I was thrilled to see Elle Chapman, who plays a character on The Madison, announce on her Instagram that they’ve finished filming season 2! She simply wrote, “And that’s a wrap on season 2. Heart is full.” It’s a little strange, though, because we’re still waiting for season 1 to even come out! But honestly, it’s still great news for those of us eagerly anticipating more from this expansion series.

Despite filming two complete seasons, details about the upcoming Yellowstone spinoff, The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, are still scarce. The new series will center on a new family—originally from New York—as they settle in the Madison River valley in Montana. The cast also includes notable actors like Kevin Costner, Patrick J. Adams, Kurt Russell, Matthew Fox, and Beau Garrett.
With production on season 2 of The Madison now complete, we can expect more information about the show to be revealed soon. Although Taylor Sheridan is currently prioritizing the launch of Y: Marshals on CBS next month, he has two finished seasons of this Yellowstone spin-off ready for editing and release.
A key advantage is that because Taylor Sheridan has already filmed all of season 2, there’s no need to stagger the release. If the new Yellowstone spin-off is well-received, they could potentially release season 2 much sooner than planned. While not a certainty, having that flexibility with the show’s rollout is a significant benefit.
