Taylor Swift knew that when it came to her biggest tour yet, she had to be ready for it.
The Grammy-winning artist began a rigorous workout plan half a year before starting rehearsals for her Eras Tour, which ran from March 2023 to December 2024. She needed to get in shape for the demanding shows that lasted over three hours each.
Taylor Swift admitted she’s never been in such intense physical shape, jokingly calling it ‘horrible’ in the Disney+ docuseries End of an Era. She explained she significantly increased her training, spending six months before rehearsals running on the treadmill daily, matching her pace to the songs she’d be performing and singing along. She compared the effort to covering the length of an entire NFL stadium, emphasizing how challenging it was.
And that endurance is needed onstage, as she noted, “I think I run like eight miles in this show.”
The Eras Tour was Taylor Swift’s sixth major tour, but it was also her most ambitious. Each show was much longer than any of her previous concerts.
She explained that this tour included things she’d never tried before. She added that her previous longest show lasted about two hours and fifteen minutes.
The docuseries showed a bit of Taylor’s workout with trainer Kirk Myers. They did various strength training exercises, including pull-ups – which Taylor admitted were one of her least favorite – assisted by a resistance band around her feet.
I never actually use this during the show, but I always mention it when I have to do pull-ups,” she explained, adding that she really dislikes the exercise.

Taylor’s core work with Myers included passing a weighted ball during sit-ups. They also used hammer swings to strengthen her arms.
Taylor emphasized that performing a show of that length is much harder than it seems. She explained that while planning a long show is one thing, actually executing it without showing strain is quite another. She wants to appear flawless and not let the audience see her struggling.

The first episode of The End of an Era featured Taylor Swift discussing the cancellation of her August 2024 concerts in Vienna, Austria, due to a terror threat. Two men were arrested for allegedly planning the attack.
Taylor explained that the tour has faced several frightening and intense incidents. She described narrowly avoiding a potentially disastrous situation and admitted she’s been feeling overwhelmed as a result.
This happened shortly after a tragic incident in Southport, England, where three children died during a dance class inspired by Taylor Swift.
An emotional Taylor shared through tears, “I have a hard time explaining it.”
Okay, so after everything that happened in Southport, Taylor did the most amazing thing. I found out she was meeting with the survivors and families of the victims backstage at her Wembley concerts. Like, can you even imagine? She didn’t have to, but she quietly made time for them, offering support when they needed it most. It just proves what I already knew – she’s not just a performer, she’s a genuinely incredible person. I’m honestly still getting chills thinking about it!
In the docuseries, Taylor and her mother, Andrea Swift, were both seen crying after a conversation. Andrea told Taylor, “I know you helped them. It might not feel like it, but I know you did.”

Taylor was very nervous before performing at Wembley Stadium, especially after the recent upsetting events.
“I just need to do this show,” she told pal Ed Sheeran backstage, “remember the joy of it.”
Taylor went on to explain that after she wraps up her Wembley concerts she’ll have two months off.
After Ed asked what she was up to, she said she needed to get away to a place where she couldn’t be found. She explained she just wanted to escape the feeling of being constantly watched and pursued, like she was being hunted.

Recent reports confirmed that Taylor Swift generously gave bonuses to all members of her tour crew – including dancers and musicians – after each leg of the tour was completed.
Taylor emphasized the importance of bonus days, explaining that establishing a positive pattern with The Eras Tour was a priority for her.
She explained that crew members receive larger bonuses when the tour is financially successful. She emphasized how hard everyone works and how talented they are, so she personally wrote a handwritten note to each member of the crew. It took her a few weeks, but she really enjoyed the process.
And Taylor was on hand to deliver those notes, which brought her team to tears.

Even when Travis Kelce wasn’t with Taylor at the concerts, he was like other fans, searching online for information about The Eras Tour.
Travis told Taylor over the phone before her concerts in Wembley that he really wanted to be there and would be searching online to try and make it happen.

While putting The Eras Tour together, Taylor turned to a longtime pal for guidance.
I needed a choreographer, so I asked my friend, Emma Stone – she’s done a lot of dancing in movies – for recommendations. She immediately said, ‘You absolutely have to work with Mandy Moore!’ Taylor explained.
Mandy Moore, a choreographer and distinct from the actress with the same name, collaborated with Emma on the 2016 film La La Land.

To keep surprise songs and performances secret – like when Florence Welch joined Taylor on stage for “Florida!!!” – Taylor and her band would lower the volume during rehearsals. They practiced ‘quietly’ to prevent fans waiting outside the stadiums from overhearing what they were working on.
Taylor explained in the second episode of the docuseries, “Magic of the Eras,” that keeping the surprises under wraps was exhausting. “I’m tired just thinking about all the effort,” she said, “but seeing it all come together makes it completely worthwhile.”
