Taylor Swift plans to stick around for far longer than a fortnight. 

Oh my gosh, I just watched Taylor on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show and it was everything! She’s gearing up to drop this six-part documentary on Disney+ – December 12th, mark your calendars! – and she actually talked about all the negativity she gets. But here’s the thing, she didn’t just complain, she had a really thoughtful way of bringing it up. I’m so excited for the docuseries, and it was amazing to see her address everything so openly!

She explained in a recent interview that she makes a conscious effort to avoid sounding like she thinks her experiences are unique. She doesn’t want to come across as someone who believes no one can understand what she’s going through, because that’s not something anyone wants to hear – including herself.

She is, however, aware of the some of the noise.

As a longtime fan, I’ve noticed a real divide. Some people absolutely celebrate those who have long, successful careers – they truly admire that dedication. But then there’s another side, and it’s tough to see. They seem to want you to step aside, to focus on past achievements instead of letting you continue to create. It’s like they’d rather talk about what you used to do than what you’re doing now.

Her response? “I don’t want to.”

Taylor Swift says she’s grateful to have a strong support system to help her deal with the challenges of being famous. She mentioned Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac, her producer Max Martin, and her fiancé Travis Kelce as key people she relies on.

Of the latter, she told Stephen, “I can talk to him about any of this.”

As a lifestyle observer, it was really heartwarming to see Taylor finally regain ownership of her master recordings earlier this year – something she’s been passionately working towards for so long! And it meant so much that Travis was there with her to celebrate this huge personal and professional win.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce first connected in July 2023 when Swift’s Eras Tour came to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Being a big fan of Taylor Swift, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end wanted to give her a personalized friendship bracelet with his jersey number on it. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to because she was busy getting ready for the show.

Travis explained on his podcast, New Heights, that he was a little upset Taylor Swift didn’t talk much before or after her concerts. He understood she needed to conserve her voice for the 44 songs she performs, but he was hoping to give her one of the friendship bracelets he’d made.

After jokingly talking about dropping the football – something he’d later call incredibly cool – Travis decided to take a chance and invited the famous singer to come watch the Chiefs play at their home stadium, Arrowhead.

He explained on The Pat McAfee Show that he challenged Taylor Swift, saying he’d noticed her performing at Arrowhead Stadium and suggested she come see him perform there too, to see who puts on a better show. He said they’ll see if anything comes of it soon.

Travis had grown a mustache, starting during training camp in August, and that’s how Taylor first met him.

Looking back on that time, I have to admit, that mustache and number 87 jersey were a total moment! It’s funny, because that’s actually what I was rocking when I first met Taylor – a pretty memorable look, if I do say so myself!

According to a source, Travis and Taylor began casually texting and talking to each other around the beginning of September.

“It’s been very low-key,” the insider explained, “as he’s been in season.”

Taylor accepted Travis’ invitation and went to Arrowhead Stadium to see him and the Chiefs play the Chicago Bears, where she sat with his mother, Donna Kelce. After the game, Taylor and Travis were photographed showing affection for each other at a nearby bar.

Despite rumors that they first met in person at the time, the singer of “Karma” later explained that she and the other person had already spent a considerable amount of time getting to know each other.

As Taylor noted, “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.” 

To show how serious things were getting, Taylor brought a group of her friends – including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski – to see the Chiefs play the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Taylor Swift seems to be getting close to Brittany Mahomes, wife of Travis Kelce’s best friend and teammate, Patrick Mahomes, both at and away from NFL games. This could be another hint that Taylor and Travis are a couple!

The couple publicly showcased their relationship with a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live on October 14th. They continued the fun with the show’s after-party and a romantic dinner at the Waverly Inn.

I was so excited to hear that Travis used the bye week to fly down to Argentina and support Taylor during the South American leg of her Eras Tour! It was amazing to see pictures of him bonding with Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, at the Buenos Aires show on November 11th. And the best part? Taylor actually gave him a sweet shoutout from the stage – it was such a special moment and really showed how much they’re connecting!

“Karma is that guy on the Chiefs,” Taylor sang, “coming straight home to me.”

Following the performance, Taylor Swift reportedly rushed backstage to meet Travis Kelce, where she enthusiastically kissed him.

Taylor addressed the lavender craze surrounding her appearances at Travis’ games.

She told Time magazine that they’re simply supporting each other and enjoying being together, not worrying about who else is around. This is the opposite of having to hide a relationship and go to great lengths to keep it secret.

 

The famous singer made Travis’ game on December 17th a family event, bringing her father along to support her boyfriend.

Taylor and Travis celebrated New Year’s Eve together, and they shared a kiss at midnight on January 1st.

Taylor continued getting to know Travis’ family and spent time with his brother, Jason Kelce, and sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, while watching the Chiefs play the Buffalo Bills.

After the Chiefs won the AFC Championship and secured their place in the 2024 Super Bowl, Taylor joined Travis on the field. They celebrated with a kiss and then told each other ‘I love you’ for the first time.

During the conversation, she openly shared details about her life with Travis, both publicly and privately, and announced the title of her upcoming twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which will be released on October 3rd.

Over two years after Travis mentioned Taylor on his podcast – a moment that quickly spread online – the couple announced their engagement. They playfully referenced Taylor’s song “So High School” in an August 26th Instagram post with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
