Following the positive reception of Nioh 3 and the Dead or Alive revival, Team Ninja is reorganizing its structure. According to publisher Koei Tecmo (as reported by Automaton Media), Team Ninja’s Division 1, headed by Yasunori Sakuda, will now join Gust, the studio behind the Atelier series, as its second division. This makes sense, as the two teams have already collaborated on games like Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator.
Team Ninja is reorganizing! They’re splitting their development team into two divisions – Division 1 and Division 2. Kohei Shibata, the producer known for games like Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and Dead or Alive, will lead Division 1. We don’t yet know who will lead Division 2 or what each team will be working on, but it’s likely Shibata will oversee the next Dead or Alive title. These changes will officially start on April 1st.
The future of the Atelier series is uncertain, particularly after the disappointing reception of Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and The Envisioned Land. However, Team Ninja has several other projects in development. Fans of Ninja Gaiden 4 can look forward to its first paid downloadable content, The Two Masters, arriving in early 2026, and Nioh 3 will receive its first DLC, Hell Rising, this September.
The studio is also remaking Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, which will be released on March 12th. Players can try a free demo starting March 5th, and a collaboration with Silent Hill f is planned for after the game launches.
