Tearful Caitlyn Jenner Breaks Silence on Sophia Hutchins’ Death

Caitlyn Jenner is sharing an update on her grief.

For the initial occasion, the 75-year-old openly discussed the tragic demise of her close acquaintance, Sophia Hutchins, who met her end in a quad bike accident during the month of July.

During her latest interview on Fox, Caitlyn shared that sadly, her dear friend Sophia had recently lost her life in an unfortunate accident. However, she’s been finding it extremely hard to cope during these past seven weeks as she grapples with the reality of death.

Later, the Olympian pondered over the tragic shooting incident at Minneapolis’ Annunciation Catholic School on August 27, which sadly claimed the lives of Fletcher Merkel, aged 8, and Harper Moyski, who was just 10 years old. The event also left numerous others injured.

When this unfortunate incident occurred, it had a profound impact on me,” Caitlyn expressed, referring to the distressing attack. “Grieving myself, I struggle to fathom parents who send their children to school and then find themselves in a position where they’ll never get to speak with them again, as that father so poignantly put it. That thought is just beyond horrifying.

She added that she’s been navigating through grief, and the individuals they’re referring to are about to face a lengthy journey of their own, coping with grief.

Sophia had been both Caitlyn’s devoted friend for quite some time and her manager prior to her untimely demise at 29 years old. The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office stated in a report that the cause of death was multiple traumatic impacts, and that her death was ruled an accident.

Just before the tragic incident on July 2, Sophia collided with a 2016 Mazda sedan while driving a 2013 Polaris ATV in the Malibu mountains, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. They also reported that following the accident, she fell off a cliff that was approximately 350 feet high, as shared by the Daily Mail.

According to Malibu/Lost Hills Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo, it appears she didn’t seem to be pursuing them. He added that the two people in the Mazda were okay. He believes she must have accidentally collided with their car after approaching it suddenly.

He went on to say that it appeared as if she attempted to steer around it, but due to excessive speed, she merely scraped the back of that Mazda. This incident caused her to lose control and plunge over the edge of the cliff.

For Caitlyn, who had earlier hinted at facing challenging periods following Sophia’s passing, it was losing a friend who had stood by her for more than ten years since they initially met through a makeup artist.

In 2019, Sophia shared with The New York Times that due to their shared sense of humor, they laughed together throughout their encounter and subsequently had brunch together. Ever since then, they have remained good friends.

Not long after that, Sophia was appointed as Caitlyn’s manager. Speaking to the New York Times, Caitlyn praised her, saying, “She is one of the most brilliant minds in her profession. Her importance in my life is beyond question. With her entrepreneurial zeal, the sky’s the limit for her.
