AFC Richmond might be missing some familiar faces when Ted Lasso returns.
It appears that Phil Dunster may not return for the forthcoming fourth season of the Apple TV+ comedy, as suggested by a press release dated July 21st.
According to the producer’s announcement, some familiar faces will be back for the upcoming season: Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Hannah Waddingham, and Jeremy Swift. They will be joined by new cast members in season four, including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely. Notably, Grant Feely is stepping into the role of Ted’s son Henry, previously played by Gus Turner.
Nevertheless, it was observed that Dunster, who played the role of Jamie Tartt (the English soccer star) in the series throughout its first three seasons, was missing from the recent announcement. Interestingly enough, this wasn’t an isolated case.
Besides Nick Mohammed (Nate Shelley), Sarah Niles (Dr. Sharon Fieldstone), Anthony Head (Rupert Mannion), Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya), James Lance (Trent Crimm), Cristo Fernandez (Dani Rojas), Kola Bokinni (Isaac McAdoo) and Billy Harris (Colin Hughes), other significant characters, their futures on the show remain uncertain.
TopMob News has reached out to reps for Dunster and Mohammed for comment but has not heard back.
According to Apple TV+, when the new season starts, character Ted will go back to Richmond to manage a lower-division women’s football team. Along the way, he and his team will learn to take risks they never thought possible, as suggested by the show’s description.
Additionally, the broadcaster shared a sneak peek snapshot hinting at Ted, Rebecca Welton (portrayed by Waddingham), Keeley Jones (Temple), and Leslie Higgins (Swift) savoring a meal together in a diner located in Sudeikis’ birthplace, Kansas City, Missouri.
Fans had eagerly anticipated the new teaser, as it marked the highly-anticipated return of Ted Lasso, nearly two and a half years after the show’s third season finale aired in March 2023.
A premiere date for season four has yet to be announced.

As a connoisseur of fine entertainment, I must confess my disappointment upon learning that Season Two of Bridgerton would be without its captivating Duke of Hastings, portrayed by Rege-Jean Page. His mesmerizing performance and unparalleled charm propelled him to global acclaim, making him the standout star of Netflix’s 2021 smash hit drama. Yet, the news that he would not reprise his role left many hearts yearning for more.
Later on, he clarified to Vanity Fair, “I took on a task, completed it, and then undertook some additional tasks.” In essence, that’s the gist of the tale. I had hoped it would be more exciting than that.
In 2018, Ruby Rose first appeared in the Arrowverse crossover and then played the lead role as Kate Kane (also known as Batwoman) for one season on the CW series. This marked a significant milestone as it was the first time a lesbian superhero had headlined her own show; Batwoman’s sexuality was a central part of the storyline in a groundbreaking TV moment. However, only two days after the season finale in 2020, Rose announced she would be leaving the role. The character was subsequently replaced by Javicia Leslie, who will assume control of the Batcave as Ryan Wilder in season two.
Later on in season two, Kate got a bit of a face swap and returned played by Wallis Day.

For the series finale, she returned to provide Amy and Jonah (Ben Feldman) with a satisfying conclusion.
In the finale of the Syfy series “The Magicians” during its fourth season in 2019, Jason Ralph’s character Quentin embarked on a journey to rescue Eliot (Hale Appleman), which he ultimately accomplished, but at the cost of his own life. Although the show often deals with deceased characters given its title, Ralph did not reappear for the fifth and concluding season.
Ahead of the final season, Arrow‘s Emily Bett Rickards announced her exit in a poem of sorts.
Felicity and I are extremely close, but after the first week, we’ll have to bid farewell to you,” she wrote.

In the year 2018, after lengthy discussions over her contract, Lauren Cohan bid farewell to The Walking Dead. Cohan reappeared in the 16th episode of this season, which aired in October 2020.
Following closely after Cohan and Andrew Lincoln departing from the zombie drama, Gurira also said goodbye. She joined the AMC series during season three as the katana-wielding Michonne, and her final appearance was in a season 10 episode that aired in March 2020.

It’s no surprise that the cast of Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” has seen its fair share of departures. In the second season, actor Clayne Crawford was let go from the series, and in 2018, Damon Wayans, who played opposite him, announced his plans to leave the show after completing the initial 13 episodes of the third season. As he put it in October 2018, “I’m going to be quitting the show in December… I’m a 58-year-old diabetic and I’m working 16-hour days… Murtaugh said, ‘too old for this.’
The producers were not required to devise a backup plan since the series ended after its third season.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found myself gracing the screens of viewers during the debut of Brooklyn Nine-Nine on NBC. However, unlike many beloved characters, I chose to depart from the series before it reached its conclusion. Interestingly, my departure message bore striking resemblance to Emmy Rossum’s farewell letter from Shameless. A year prior, I embarked on a new journey as a mother to a wonderful son, whom I welcomed into the world with my extraordinary partner, Jordan Peele. During season five, my character took time off for maternity leave and was absent from several episodes.
