Teddi Mellencamp Hospitalized After Waking Up Covered in Sores

Teddi Mellencamp is recuperating after a scary illness.

A star from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills recently revealed she was hospitalized with Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a rare and serious disorder that affects the skin and mucous membranes.

Teddi told her friend and co-host Tamra Judge on the March 3rd episode of their podcast, Two Ts in a Pod, that she hadn’t been feeling well for a few days. She initially thought she had the flu, but then woke up covered in a severe rash – she described it as almost like painful sores all over her body.

Teddi described the sores as painful, saying they “hurt and burned,” but she remained calm and went to urgent care, hoping for a quick solution. However, her doctor immediately advised her to go to the emergency room.

She explained that she became ill because she had an allergic reaction to a new medication. This caused a rare and dangerous medical condition where painful blisters formed on her skin and inside her mouth.

The health issue wasn’t just skin deep, according to Teddi, who shares three children – Slate, age 12, Cruz, age 11, and Dove, age 6 – with her ex-husband, Edwin Arroyave. She explained that it affected her entire body.

“It went into my mouth,” she recalled. “Around my eyes a little bit. I couldn’t swallow.”

Teddi was hospitalized, but thankfully, the doctors were able to quickly figure out what was wrong and treat her.

She said doctors quickly gave her steroids and antibiotics, and thankfully, she started feeling better after a couple of days. They wanted her to stay in the hospital because her condition could improve, then suddenly worsen again.

Fortunately, Teddi was able to leave the hospital in time for her youngest child’s birthday. She said seeing her daughter gave her a boost of energy, even though she wasn’t feeling well.

As she put it, “I was so happy.”
