The new update for Tekken 8 has arrived, and although it primarily consists of a few tweaks aimed at balancing gameplay (many of which focus on fixing glitchy interactions), this patch is indeed considered a significant one, but that’s largely subjective to opinion.
As a passionate gamer, I’ve got to say, the new update, version 2.05, is tackling an annoying issue head-on – the repetitive use of the same female character body model, particularly in terms of their chest models. It’s about time for some diversity and individuality!
In the world of Tekken, the absence of diverse body structures was often discussed within the community. This conversation escalated when new characters wearing bikinis were presented during the summer season. Interestingly enough, it was later revealed that these repetitive body types weren’t deliberate choices.
Humorously, Tekken’s creator Katsuhiro Harada explained on social media that changes were implemented to fix a problem where the same chest measurements were unintentionally used for some characters.
To further emphasize his point, Harada incorporates GIFs that visually depict the changes, making it evident that there are modifications focused on the chest area. Believe me, such high-quality content is seldom found in other platforms.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled about the latest update! It’s specifically addressing Asuka’s character model, which is quite significant given the humorous running gag that she seems to have misplaced her neck in Tekken 8. This patch is focusing on reducing the muscle mass around her shoulders, ensuring a more realistic portrayal of our beloved tomboy.
Interestingly, more adjustments for Asuka are being planned. However, as Harada explains, making extensive corrections simultaneously could lead to a significant amount of instability in the model.
This update, specifically version 2.05, incorporates a feature that shows your win rate. Now, you can compare your win rates against individual characters in online ranked matches. Although it might not be the main highlight of this update considering other changes, it’s still an interesting addition to the game.
