Players of Tekken 8 are surprised by a recent online rumor. Even though the game came out in 2024 and is currently receiving Season 3 content, players haven’t been thrilled with the new season so far. Despite this, they’re still hoping for future additions. Sadly, it appears a popular character many fans wanted to see join Tekken 8 might instead be appearing in a different fighting game.
A new rumor is circulating online suggesting that Tifa Lockhart, a popular character from Final Fantasy VII, might become a playable fighter in Street Fighter 6 as downloadable content. The information comes from a reliable source who has accurately leaked SF6 roster updates before. If the rumor is true, Tifa could be added to the game sometime in Year 4, which is expected to begin this summer.
Fans of Tekken 8 are disappointed that Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy is joining Street Fighter 6 instead. She was the most requested guest character for Tekken 8, and with previous Final Fantasy characters already appearing in Tekken games, it seemed likely she would join the roster. However, it now appears a collaboration between Square Enix and Capcom will bring her to Street Fighter 6 instead of Tekken 8.
On Reddit, user fijitotalbody noted that Tifa was the most requested character, but expressed concern that she might not be included now.
One user, koteshima2nd, pointed out that it would have been ideal for the Tekken series to include Tifa Lockhart around the time Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 comes out, but now Street Fighter is likely to get that opportunity. They then questioned why Tekken chose Clive Rosfield instead.
It’s important to remember that Tifa isn’t confirmed to be in Street Fighter 6 yet, so Tekken fans might be getting excited over nothing. Plus, even if she does appear in SF6, that doesn’t mean she can’t also be added to Tekken 8. We’ve seen guest characters in multiple fighting games before, so it’s definitely possible.
Tekken 8 will soon get three new fighters – Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr. – as part of Season 3. Plus, a fourth, currently unnamed character will join the roster later in 2024.
