A 27-year-old father, who tragically lost his life, is being widely praised for his heroism during the Texas floods, as he valiantly attempted to rescue his loved ones before meeting his untimely end.
On the Fourth of July, Julian Ryan and his partner, Christinia Wilson, found themselves at their residence in Ingram, as reports from CBS affiliate KHOU indicated. Suddenly, the water level in the neighboring Guadalupe River began to swiftly increase.
According to Wilson, as soon as it began raining heavily, we struggled to shut the door quickly to prevent water from coming inside excessively.
In just 20 minutes, Wilson reported that the water had risen to their waist level, forcing her, Ryan, and their children, along with his mother, to run to the house’s rear room. When they discovered that the police wouldn’t arrive in time, Ryan smashed a window to create an exit for the family.
“It severed his artery in his arm,” Wilson recalled, “and almost cut it clean off.”
Wilson shared that she and her mother-in-law managed to escape with the children, however, it was unfortunate that Ryan could not do the same. In a heartfelt final message, he conveyed: “I’m sorry, I can’t make it. I love you all.
According to Wilson, rescuers were not able to reach Ryan’s body for hours until the water receded.
For Wilson’s mother-in-law, her son gave the supreme sacrifice, prioritizing what mattered most to him – his loved ones, his family.

Likewise, Ryan’s brother Joseph Rounsley believes he died as a “true hero.”
Julian made the ultimate sacrifice for his family, as stated on GoFundMe. Although they are eternally thankful for this selfless act, they are devastated by their loss. Julian was deeply cherished as a son, father, fiancé, sibling, and relative to countless others, and his sudden absence has created an irreplaceable gap in our lives.
