Teyana Taylor Shares Her Daughter’s Sweet Reaction to Golden Globe Win

Teyana Taylor’sdaughters didn’t let their mom down.

Just two days after winning the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her role in a film by Paul Thomas Anderson, the actress said her daughters, 10-year-old Iman and 5-year-old Rue (whom she shares with her ex, Iman Shumpert), were eager to celebrate with her.

You know, one of the sweetest moments happened after the movie premiere! I was coming down from accepting an award, and my family was actually waiting for me right in the lobby. They were staying in a suite, so they just came down as I walked through, and it was just… incredibly heartwarming. I instantly ran and hugged them – I completely melted into their arms! It was such a special moment, and honestly, it meant the world to me to have them there.

Okay, so she’s thirty-five and absolutely killed it with her speech! She playfully warned her daughters they’d be in trouble if they were on their phones, but honestly, she was secretly hoping they weren’t! She later admitted she was SO relieved to find out they were actually paying attention. It was just the cutest, most heartwarming thing ever, and I’m still buzzing about it!

“It was just so hectic,” she said. “The moment I saw my daughter afterwards, she pointed out, ‘Mom, we didn’t even use our phones!’”

Teyana’s recent Golden Globe win is just the newest recognition for her work in the film, which also features Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall, and Sean Penn. She explained that reaching this high point in her career required her to stay focused and persistent.

Teyana shared that she’s been building her career steadily since she was fifteen, for the past twenty years. Seeing her hard work finally come to fruition feels incredibly rewarding, and she doesn’t have any regrets. She often reminds herself that waiting isn’t a negative thing, but rather a time to prepare for what’s meant to be, and she believes this success was always destined to happen.

Teyana Taylor’s next project is a new Netflix film called The Rip, premiering January 16th. She stars alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as Numa Baptiste, a detective who uncovers a large sum of hidden money, sparking a complex inside job.

Teyana expressed immense gratitude and feeling truly blessed with where she is in life right now.
