Teyana Taylor Shares Leonardo DiCaprio’s Golden Globes Advice

Teyana Taylor is enjoying the recognition she’s been getting, savoring each award and accomplishment as it comes.

Following a successful awards season that included nominations for a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award, the star of One Battle After Another told TopMob News she’s feeling great. She also shared advice her co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, gave her as she headed into awards season.

She told TopMob at the Critics Choice Awards celebration that she’s focusing on enjoying the process. Her advice? Don’t get too caught up in details – just have fun, and that’s exactly what she’s doing.

Teyana, who has two daughters – 9-year-old Iman and 5-year-old Rue – with her ex, Iman Shumpert, has said she’s planning to take it easy and celebrate her 35th birthday on December 10th.

She said she’s taking the first flight to get her children from school, and that’s all she’s doing for now. ‘I’m just tired,’ she added.

She simply wants to relax, take a break, and spend some quality time with her children.

Despite a busy schedule, Teyana enjoys spending time with her fellow actors in the Paul Thomas Anderson film, including Leo, Regina Hall, Sean Penn, and Chase Infiniti.

At the movie premiere in September, she described Leonardo DiCaprio as a really fun person to be around. She added that he’s her brother, and she looks up to him as both a guide and a strong leader when they’re working together.

Leo, of course, feels the same way about the All’s Fair star.

At the movie premiere, Leo told TopMob that she’s incredibly funny. He said he immediately knew she’d be a standout when she joined the cast, and she definitely delivered. He also described her as a really fun person to be around – just awesome overall.

Although 25-year-old Chase didn’t act alongside her television mother in the show, she’s admired her throughout the promotional events for the series.

Chase explained to TopMob in November that he deeply admires how she lives her life and stays true to herself. He wants to make sure he focuses on his own path and doesn’t let the opinions of others distract him from pursuing his purpose.

Teyana isn’t the only celebrity celebrating early success this awards season. Here’s what other stars are saying about their Golden Globe nominations…

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always thrilled to see artistry recognized, and today’s Golden Globe nominations for WEAPONS are truly special! Being acknowledged for my role as Aunt Gladys is such an honor, and it’s wonderful that the film itself is also being celebrated. This really highlights Zach Cregger’s incredible vision and the dedication of the entire filmmaking team. I especially want to give a shout-out to Leo Satkovich, Jason Collins, and Melizah Wheat – they were instrumental in creating Gladys’s unique look, and of course, our amazing costume designer, Trish Summerville, who brought it all to life!

This project was a real team effort, and I’m so grateful for everyone’s help. It’s been amazing to see how positively audiences, critics, and the media have reacted to the film over the past few months. It’s been a joy seeing people dress up as ‘Gladys’! Thank you to the Golden Globes, and congratulations to the entire cast and crew of SINNERS! Playing two very different brothers in this project was the most difficult, but also the most fulfilling, experience of my career. We wouldn’t be here without the incredible vision and courage of Ryan Coogler. After working together for ten years, he once again inspired us to reach new heights. SINNERS is a complex film that explores themes of love, loss, and the cost of freedom, and it connects to all of our personal histories. By honoring this film, you’re celebrating a tradition of brave and innovative storytelling. Thank you so much.

We aimed to create a film about family, forgiveness, and how art can offer healing, and we’re so grateful for the warm reception it’s received.

I woke up to wonderful news and my heart was pounding! I initially thought I’d slept through something important, and I might have even screamed when I realized why I was being called. It’s still so surreal and amazing to be recognized alongside such talented performers. I’m so grateful to Nia DaCosta, my friend and the brilliant director, for believing in me to play this role. Thank you also to Amazon MGM Studios/Orion for their support of the film, and to the incredibly talented cast and crew—especially Nina Hoss, whose brilliance elevated my own performance.

It was a true honor to play such a well-known character. Congratulations to my fellow nominees, Jacob, Paul, Adam, Stellan, and Sean – it’s wonderful to share this category with you all. And to my incredible team, the One Battle family – Adam, Sara, Leo, Sean, Chase, Teyana, Regina, and our leader Paul – I’m so proud of the work we did together and excited for what’s to come.
