Teyana Taylor Undergoing Emergency Vocal Chord Surgery

Teyana Taylor is focusing on her health.

On August 6, the artist known for singing “Gonna Love Me” announced that due to a benign growth, she will need to undergo emergency surgery on her vocal cords. In simpler terms, she revealed that she’ll soon have an operation on her vocal cords to remove a non-cancerous growth.

Teyana shared on her Instagram Story that she has been privately managing some issues related to her vocal cords for quite some time now. She revealed that medical professionals discovered a non-cancerous growth on one of her vocal chords, which has been affecting her voice and causing significant discomfort.

Instead, she added, “Fortunately, we managed to catch it and it’s treatable; however, this requires me to take a break and allow myself adequate time for recovery.

Teyana Taylor has postponed her scheduled interview on the IMO podcast with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson due to scheduling conflicts, but she’s still planning to release her fourth album, Escape Room, on August 22 as planned.

The 34-year-old expressed that this is the most intimate piece of work they’ve ever produced. However, right when they were about to reveal it to you, life presented an unforeseen ‘escape room’ situation – one they didn’t choose but must navigate now with patience, rest, and faith.

Affirming a determination to come back with “greater passion, clearer focus, and an improved self,” Teyana expressed her eagerness to emerge from this experience – stronger, more tender, and ready to sing once more.

On multiple occasions, the Straw star has spoken candidly about her health challenges. In an episode of their reality series “We Got Love Teyana & Iman” from 2021, she disclosed a past medical issue where doctors discovered benign but thick tissues in her breasts that needed to be removed.

At that moment, Teyana made it clear she wanted this experience to mark the final time she would encounter such an ordeal. Cancer has been a persistent concern within her family, making it a source of great fear not only for herself but also for her loved one, Iman.

Nevertheless, the choreographer, who has two daughters – Junie, aged 9, and Rue, aged 4, with her former partner – asserted that she feels no regrets regarding the ordeal she experienced in terms of medical treatment.

She expressed that she embraces all the bodily marks of motherhood and the accompanying aspects, but the transformations – be they physical, mental, or emotional – are truly mind-boggling. In essence, being a mom is like being a superhero.

In 2014, the actress who played a leading role in “12 Years a Slave” was diagnosed with fibroids – these are non-cancerous growths that can form within or near the uterus. This diagnosis came in the very same year she won an Oscar for her performance in that movie.

Yet, she didn’t reveal her diagnosis until the year 2025, sharing on Instagram that she had quietly endured it for over a decade.

In her words, she mentioned that during puberty, women are often led to believe that periods come with pain, and this discomfort is just an inevitable aspect of femininity. She emphasized that many women endure this issue on their own, as it significantly impacts their daily lives.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share a personal health tip from July 2025. You may have heard about a beloved musician who had to take a medical break due to a hernia – a condition where there’s a gap in the muscular wall, often found around the abdomen or groin region. This issue was reportedly caused by the prolonged wearing of tight-fitting pants. It serves as a reminder for all of us to prioritize comfort over fashion when it comes to our daily clothing choices.

She wrote on X, ‘You don’t post on Twitter anymore.’ She shared, ‘Six months ago, my pants were so tight they gave me a hernia, and since then, I’ve been too nervous to mention it to you.’

He shared that he’s been experiencing spasms throughout his body and was informed by doctors that his condition was critical – essentially they told him he might not survive, within the past year specifically.

He mentioned that pain can be intermittent, expressing, “There are quite a few things about my body that aren’t quite right and not functioning perfectly.

Previously part of Bachelor Nation, this individual revealed he visited the hospital while crawling on hands and knees as a result of severe back pain that worsened during a camping trip with a companion in an RV.

Currently, there’s a tingling sensation from my knees down to my toes that feels quite unusual,” he remarked during a March 2025 episode of his podcast, Trading Secrets. “To clarify, about two or three weeks ago, possibly a month ago, I was squatting around 295 pounds. Now, I’m unable to do a single-leg squat; if I try, I lose balance, as if I’ve suffered some kind of neurological incident.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

The bullet struck me square in the face. Fortunately, @thebrendanrooney reacted swiftly and heroically, evaluating my condition on the spot and rushing me to the hospital without delay. Miraculously, I was hit in five different spots, with one of them just a mere inch away from causing serious damage to my right eye. A close call indeed!

As an ardent fanboy, I’d put it like this: “Well, here’s the scoop – a piece of something got stuck behind my peeper, and it’s not safe to whip out the scalpel just yet. The good docs are keeping a close eye on me, and for now, I can see as clear as a bell.

The actress expressed her heartfelt gratitude for being alive, stating, “I hold my loved ones – my daughters, husband, family, and friends – so dearly. A moment ago, it seemed like I glimpsed my life’s journey, and I’m urging you to cherish those close to you, offering hugs whenever possible. Hailey Bieber endured a truly alarming incident in March 2022 when she encountered symptoms similar to a stroke while having breakfast with her husband Justin Bieber. During this time, she struggled to respond and speak properly, with one side of her face drooping temporarily.

Hailey recounted the experience on YouTube a month later, stating that Justin had asked if she was alright, but she didn’t respond because she wasn’t certain. When he inquired again, she attempted to respond but couldn’t form words.

Although the facial drooping ceased and her speech returned, Hailey decided to visit a hospital for a check-up. Medical tests revealed that she had experienced a small brain clot, which was classified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA).

Subsequently, further investigations at the University of California, Los Angeles, uncovered a hole in her heart called patent foramen ovale (PFO). Hailey explained that the blood clot had moved into her heart through this opening, escaped from her heart, and traveled to her brain, resulting in the TIA.

Following these findings, Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and reported feeling well since then.

In the same year as Hailey’s health scare, Justin also faced a medical challenge when he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. This condition caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face, which required him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour. Justin explained in an Instagram video that the virus attacked the nerve in his ear and facial nerves, causing complete paralysis on one side of his face. He was unable to blink one eye, smile, or move one nostril. Eating became progressively harder for him, but fortunately, the paralysis subsided over time. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin is now recovering well and is feeling much better after a scary and unexpected situation.

Initially examined by a doctor who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, his concerned sister Deidra Dixon then took him to a hospital where they discovered the cause: a brain bleed that led to a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 20th day, Foxx woke up May 4 in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He was subsequently sent to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

“All I can say is that I appreciate every prayer,” he stated, “because I needed every one of them.

She underwent immediate surgery to treat the aneurysm, describing the pain as unbearable. During recovery, she struggled with aphasia, speaking incoherently. However, her condition improved, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month.

In 2013, another scan revealed that the growth had doubled in size, necessitating a second surgery.
