Thanksgiving 2: Eli Roth Teases Addison Rae's Return for Sequel

As a seasoned gamer and horror movie enthusiast who has seen more than a few slasher sequels, I must admit that I am quite intrigued by Eli Roth’s upcoming “Thanksgiving” sequel. The news that Addison Rae will be returning for the next film has me both excited and skeptical.

Scant details have emerged about Eli Roth’s upcoming “Thanksgiving” sequel, but we now know at least one key cast member is returning for the new movie. Fans are hoping Nell Verlaque will reprise her role in the sequel, and Roth himself has confirmed that Addison Rae will definitely join the cast of the next film.

At the red carpet event for his latest movie, “Borderlands”, Roth chatted with Variety about Addison Rae’s part in the upcoming “Thanksgiving” sequel. Since Rae’s character managed to make it through the end of the original “Thanksgiving”, Roth hinted that her survival was no mere coincidence.

Roth expressed his fondness for Addison Rae, stating, “There was a purpose behind keeping her character alive. It seems incomplete to make a film resembling Thanksgiving without Addison Rae’s presence.”

Towards the end of November last year, following the impressive performance at the box office of Thanksgiving, Sony made it official and turned the slasher movie into a series. The sequel is scheduled to be released in cinemas around 2025, with Roth handling both writing and directing duties once more. However, apart from Roth’s hints about Rae’s potential return, no cast members for Thanksgiving 2 have been officially confirmed yet.

Before the theatrical release of Thanksgiving, Roth shared with ComicBook that the movie wasn’t primarily intended to establish a sequel. However, during the filming process, Roth and co-writer Jeff Rendell did contemplate the possibility of a sequel.

In a casual conversation, Roth shared that while they primarily focused on this film during production, there were moments of jesting about potential future movies. He explained, “During our downtime, we’d joke around, saying things like, ‘Oh, we could make a movie there, we could do this and that.’ We started calling it the ‘Thanksgivingverse.'”
