It’s common to overlook the fact that celebrities are much like ordinary people, until they experience fan moments themselves. For instance, Billie Eilish’s brother Finneas O’Connell (known as Finneas) had such an encounter with Taylor Swift. At a party celebrating Swift’s birthday in the past, he found himself in an awkward situation that I can’t help but sympathize with him about it.
The acclaimed music producer who’s won a Grammy isn’t alone in being starstruck by the performer of the Eras Tour. It’s likely that many others will share this feeling too. During an interview about his forthcoming album with Ashe, under the band name The Favors, Finneas spoke to The Guardian about a rather uncomfortable encounter he had with the Fortnite star at Taylor Swift’s birthday party.
I was searching for an awkward moment… at Taylor Swift’s birthday party, she thanked everyone for attending, to which I also expressed my gratitude, saying ‘thank you for coming!’
Swift is famous for hosting spectacular parties, ranging from Fourth of July gatherings in Newport to extravagant costume events during Halloween. Even when it’s not her own event, Taylor Swift, often referred to as the “Anti-hero” songstress, always manages to steal the show, as she did at Selena Gomez’s disco party. Getting an invitation to one of Swift’s parties would be a dream come true for me, so merely conversing with her would be quite an accomplishment. I believe, considering her stardom and the circumstances, Finneas had a reasonable exchange, albeit it may have been slightly awkward.
As a devoted fan, I’d say it’s truly heartwarming to witness the genuine kindness of the Folklore artist. Her warm interactions with fans during tours speak volumes about her generous spirit. I can only imagine that she’s accustomed to such responses, yet she gracefully handled the awkward comment at the party with good humor.
It’s hard to label Finneas as a Taylor Swift fan, as it appears he and his sister Billie Eilish may not entirely align with the “Miss Americana” star. Despite their friendship being strong enough for Finneas to attend Taylor’s birthday, Billie has previously expressed some critical opinions about Taylor’s marketing strategies. Specifically, she thinks it’s wasteful that Taylor frequently releases various limited edition versions of her albums and merchandise, which is a viewpoint I can understand, even though I remain a loyal Swift fan myself.
Moving on, the album TS12, titled “The Life Of A Showgirl,” won’t be released until October 3rd. However, Taylor Swift is already providing four distinct cover options for the album on her website. I certainly hope this doesn’t cause any issues for the singer who shares similar tastes, as I wouldn’t want to see a disagreement between these two artists, with Finneas potentially stepping in as mediator.
I’m really hoping that Billie Eilish could team up with Taylor Swift on a future album of hers. Although I don’t think it’ll be on her upcoming release, Taylor’s always busy with music – she even saves ideas for songs when inspiration hits her randomly. So, maybe one day we’ll hear Finneas thanking Taylor for joining him in the studio!
