The Assembly season 2 confirms line-up of stars – including multiple British comedy legends

ITV is bringing back The Assembly for a second season, and a new group of well-known personalities will be facing its unique interview format.

This new interview series will be unlike anything you’ve seen before. Five celebrities will answer surprisingly direct and honest questions – questions they’ve never been asked in any previous interview or public appearance, even under intense scrutiny like a political hearing.

The new season will include appearances by national icon Sir Stephen Fry, former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, comedic great Sir Lenny Henry, actress Anna Maxwell Martin, and award-winning rapper Aitch, who is also known from his time on ‘I’m A Celebrity’.

Just like the first season, a talented group of interviewers – many of whom are autistic, neurodivergent, or have learning disabilities – will return to ask questions to a new set of celebrities. They’ll continue to follow the same format: anything goes, and they can ask about anything at all.

Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment at ITV, said the show’s lineup has something for all viewers. She highlighted that ‘The Assembly’ asks direct, unfiltered questions, leading to unexpected and interesting discoveries.

I recently checked out the first season of this British show, and it’s really something. It’s inspired by a French program where they have surprisingly candid chats with celebrities. This season featured a fantastic lineup – Danny Dyer, David Tennant, Jade Thirlwall, and Gary Lineker – and honestly, it was a hit with the critics. They really opened up, and it made for compelling viewing.

The show is now longer and will have seven episodes. It begins this April with episodes featuring Sir Stephen Fry and Nicola Sturgeon.

One more celebrity will be joining the show, completing the cast. We’ll reveal who it is soon, along with a special episode that hasn’t been seen before.

David Smyth, who commissions entertainment programs for ITV, said the team is excited to start and will have fun interviewing the diverse group of celebrities. He added that these celebrities should be prepared for unpredictable questions.
