In “The Bad Guys 2,” Dreamworks Animation’s charming band of former crooks will once again join forces, this time aiming to abandon their wicked ways. Interestingly enough, they might pick up some helpful tips from another group of on-screen heroes – the Fantastic Four, who are set to make their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in “Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Incidentally, both films have a common element with Natasha Lyonne appearing in both. Remarkably, this isn’t the only connection; Chris Killian of ComicBook managed to get Lyonne’s thoughts on this unexpected and amusing linkage.
In “The Bad Guys 2”, a new team of antagonists, called The Bad Girls, create chaos for our beloved gang. They include Kitty Kat (portrayed by Danielle Brooks), Pigtail (Maria Bakalova), and Doom, whose voice is provided by Lyonne. Interestingly, Lyonne was curious to know if she realized she was portraying a character named Doom prior to joining the Fantastic Four. However, Lyonne was taken aback when she found out, expressing surprise with “Hadn’t occurred to me until this moment”, and then humorously stated “Life is a series of unexpected events happening, and I just do my best.
It’s been revealed that we have more information about Chloe Grace Moretz’s character, Rachel Rozman, in “The Bad Guys 2” compared to her role in “Fantastic Four: First Steps”. We do know that Rozman is a fresh character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). There have been whispers suggesting that she could be a teacher who develops a friendship with Ben Grimm, better known as The Thing. However, it appears that she’s not actually Alicia Masters, contrary to some speculations.
First Steps”, with a focus on the impressive visual effects and the familial interactions among Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny. Additionally, Galactus has received positive comments, while many appreciate that the film can independently thrive without the intricate web of connections common to other Marvel Cinatic Universe (MCU) films.
Regarding the drawbacks, the plot has faced some criticisms, yet characters such as Sue and Ben have been praised. However, there have also been comments about the underdevelopment of each character. Recently, additional footage has given us a glimpse of Reed’s abilities and more of Galactus and The Thing. Positively, Fantastic Four: First Steps seems to pave the way effectively for The Bad Guys 2. You can find the official synopsis further down.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m excited about the latest installment in DreamWorks Animation’s hilarious series about a band of animal outlaws. Previously known as the bad guys, we’ve turned over a new leaf and are struggling to stay on the straight and narrow. However, our best efforts were thwarted when we were unexpectedly recruited for an international heist orchestrated by a group of cunning criminals – a team we never saw coming: The Bad Girls.
In this updated version, the original voice actors are reuniting alongside a fresh team of comedic heavyweights in The Bad Girls ensemble: Danielle Brooks, an Oscar nominee from “The Color Purple,” takes on the role of Kitty Kat, a sly and cunning snow leopard who leads the group; Maria Bakalova, another Oscar-nominated actress known for “Borat Subsequent Movie Film,” joins as Pigtail, a resourceful Bulgarian wild boar engineer; and Natasha Lyonne, an Emmy nominee and renowned comedy icon, portrays Doom, a clever raven with a talent for deception.
The Bad Guys 2 hits theaters on August 1st.
