Matt Reeves has some ideas for other The Batman spin-off shows.
Released in 2022, The Batman – a collaboration between Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios – features Robert Pattinson as Batman. The film, directed by Matt Reeves, also stars Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. A second Batman movie is planned for release in 2027.
Colin Farrell returned as Oswald “Oz” Cobb in HBO’s 2024 spin-off series, The Penguin. Cristin Milioti won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role as Sofia Gigante, and the show received several other Emmy nominations.
What did Matt Reeves say about there being more The Batman spin-off shows?
At the Emmys, Deadline asked Keanu Reeves about the possibility of creating additional spin-off series centered on characters from the Batman universe.
We’ve already discussed potential spin-offs,” Reeves explained. “I’m eager to explore them, but it depends on finding a concept that both the network and the creative team are happy with. Dylan Clark and I have brainstormed several ideas. Right now, our main focus is getting a second season of ‘The Penguin’ made. However, we’ve definitely talked about developing other characters, and I’d be thrilled if we got the chance to do so.
The Penguin hasn’t been officially picked up for a second season yet, but those involved, including Matt Reeves, are currently talking about making it happen.
Both The Batman and The Penguin are available to watch on HBO Max.
