The confrontation between Batman and the Riddler in jail marked a turning point, making this film unlike any previous Batman movie. Robert Pattinson has hinted that the next installment will be even more distinctive.
The success of future Batman films directed by Matt Reeves hinges on how this next story unfolds. James Gunn appears optimistic about the direction Reeves is taking, and Reeves has already demonstrated his ability to create compelling, fresh narratives from established franchises, as he did with the Planet of the Apes movies.
