The Battlefield 6 Open Beta is live to preload now — here’s how to download on Xbox, Steam, and more ahead of Early Access and its release dates

As a researcher delving into the gaming world, I can’t help but be captivated by the buzz surrounding Battlefield 6 – the upcoming installment in the renowned first-person shooter (FPS) franchise co-created by Electronic Arts (EA) and DICE. The title’s sensational unveiling last month has skyrocketed anticipation for this game, making it one of the most eagerly awaited titles of the year on platforms like Xbox Series X|S, Steam for Windows PC, and PS5.

The upcoming Battlefield game is set to debut on October 10, featuring enhanced core systems such as classes and destructible maps. There’s a high likelihood that it will reestablish the series in the spotlight. Prior to its official launch, players can experience it firsthand during Open Beta tests – beta builds that are currently available for preload.

With a notable announcement via the Battlefield Comms account on various social media platforms, the developers simultaneously unveiled the availability of preloads. They generously offered links to enable players across Xbox Series X|S, Steam, EA App, and PS5 platforms to download and install the Open Beta for their convenience.

Keep in mind that although the Open Beta features separate pages on Xbox, EA App, and PS5, for those gaming on Steam, you’ll find the “Request Access” button beneath the beta section on the full Battlefield 6 page.

The Open Beta trial will commence over the weekends of August 9-10 and August 14-17 for all participants. Additionally, there is an Early Access period for the first beta weekend (August 7-8), which is available to anyone who redeems a code they received either by participating in Twitch Drops during Battlefield 6’s multiplayer unveiling or through previous involvement in Battlefield Labs alpha testing.

When preparing to join the Open Beta of Battlefield 6 on your PC, keep in mind that the creators have released the system requirements for the game. These specifications are relatively modest compared to many other recent AAA titles. However, you’ll need to activate Secure Boot for the game to function properly because its anti-cheat mechanism is designed to work with it at a kernel level.

Taking part in the Open Beta gives you access to unique prizes within the complete game, as illustrated in the picture that follows.

Over the August 9th-10th weekend, participating in the game will reward you with the Seeker and All-Terrain soldier costume sets, as well as the Dominion weapon cosmetic bundle (which may include skins and attachments), a Lights Out design for your player card backdrop, and weapon trinkets.

Participating in combat on the battlefield during the second phase of the August 14-17 open beta event rewards you with the War Machine vehicle skin, the Striking Distance weapon pack, and a Bat Company dog tag cosmetic as tokens of recognition for your service.

Apart from reintroducing the soldier classes from Battlefield, expanding the degree of destructibility, and showcasing popular game modes such as Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush, Battlefield 6 is offering players novel approaches to immerse themselves in large-scale combat scenarios.

One noteworthy change is that the Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes will each receive innovative tools to tackle combat scenarios differently. For instance, an Assault Ladder will be introduced, allowing players to ascend openings in walls or bridge gaps.

Additionally, fresh gameplay options such as Team and Squad Deathmatch, Domination, King of the Hill, and an intense mode called Escalation are available, along with an improved Portal feature that lets you craft custom maps and modes similar to what you’d find in Halo Infinite Forge.

To sum up, it seems that the Battlefield game is shaping up to be my ideal battlefield experience, despite some minor drawbacks such as the absence of an official server browser. Nevertheless, I am optimistic that Battlefield 6 will ignite a resurgence for this series, and I eagerly anticipate participating in its Open Beta to immerse myself in it personally.

There’s no necessity to pre-order to gain access to the beta version. However, if you decide later that you want to get it early, you can purchase the game for $69.99 before its release on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PS5.
