Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Donna Berzatto in The Bear, recently suggested the show might be coming to an end. Many viewers already suspected this, as the last episode of season four showed Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, leaving the restaurant, which seemed to close off many potential storylines.
It looks like the popular show The Bear will end after its fifth season. Deadline reports that sources have confirmed this will be the show’s final season.
Even before FX officially renewed the show for a fifth season, FX Chairman John Landgraf stated that whether or not it continued would depend on what the show’s creator, Christopher Storer, wanted to do with it.
In an interview with Variety last July, he admitted they hadn’t decided if there would be a fifth season. He explained that the decision ultimately depends on creative choices and is up to Chris Storer.
It’s really sad to hear that this incredible story might be coming to a close. It feels like we’re only going to get one more season with Carmy, Sydney, Richie, and everyone else we’ve come to love. It’s tough knowing our time with these characters is limited, but I’m grateful for the journey we’ve had so far.
After Curtis suggested the show was wrapping up, she shared a photo with her co-star, Abby Elliott, on Instagram. She wrote about how proud she was to have finished the series, praising the amazing team behind it and the wonderful story of the family they’d all come to love. She also affectionately called Abby her “baby Berzatto bear.”

As a lifelong cinema and TV fan, I’ve always been fascinated by the people who write about the shows we love. I recently came across James Hibbs, who’s a Drama Writer at TopMob – he covers everything from streaming series to traditional TV. Before getting into writing, he actually worked in public relations, first for a business-focused agency and then for Fremantle, a big international production company. He’s got a solid background in both the arts and journalism, with a BA in English and Theatre Studies and a journalism diploma too.
