During season 4, events take a significant turn, with Carmy undergoing personal epiphanies and facing his inner struggles. However, will the restaurant make it through and what choices are to be made concerning its future?
Read on for everything you need to know about the ending of The Bear season 4.
Did Sydney take Shapiro’s job?

She hesitated throughout most of the season about accepting the job, going so far as to discuss contract details with Shapiro.
Yet, it appeared as though she arrived at a definite judgement during her conversation with Carmy’s mom Donna at Tiffany’s wedding. Subtly, she hinted at Richie that a choice needed to be made, but in truth, there was only one decision she could possibly take.
In episode 8, she phoned Shapiro to share the latest developments. Growing agitated, he warned her that she was about to make a huge blunder, further entangling herself with a ship that was rapidly losing stability. Later on, Shapiro contacted Carmy, but it wasn’t until later that Carmy shared this information with Sydney.
What happened between Natalie and Francie?

As a passionate cinephile, I’ve been eagerly anticipating more insights into the simmering tension between Natalie and her hitherto unseen sibling, Francie, ever since the second season of “The Bear” hinted at their feud. So far, we haven’t delved deeper into their backstory, but I can hardly wait to see how this intriguing dynamic unfolds!
This season, Francie’s invitation to Tiffany’s wedding drew greater attention, a fact discovered by Natalie.
As soon as Francie made an appearance (played by Brie Larson), the conflict between them escalated to its peak. It turned out they had a romantic past and were once close friends. However, their heated arguments made it difficult to determine the specific reason for their rift.
Looking back, they somehow found a way to mend their relationship, yet the specifics of their initial issues remained somewhat shrouded for us spectators.
What did Carmy decide?

In the middle of Season 4 of “The Bear,” Carmy phoned Pete and persuaded him to modify their partnership contract. On several instances, he attempted to discuss this matter with Sydney; however, their conversations were constantly disrupted.
Just before the second last episode, Sydney learned from Pete that Carmy relinquished ownership of The Bear, making Sydney and Natalie the new proprietors instead.
In the final encounter, Sydney found herself bewildered and hurt, questioning Carmy. It was then that he confessed that, after mending fences with Claire and his mom, he recognized that his fixation on cooking and eateries had served as an evasion tactic for him, a means to dodge dealing with his past traumas.
He communicated to Sydney that he no longer took pleasure in his job, and furthermore, after settling the restaurant’s debts, he planned to step down, which he felt would pave the way for its success. He also expressed to her that he had an unwavering confidence in her abilities, going so far as to call her “The Bear”.
After discovering the information, Richie not only criticized Carmy but also both of them ended up sharing their emotions regarding Michael’s demise, as well as the feelings they’ve harbored towards each other since then.
Afterward, I invited Richie to join me as a business partner, side by side with Carmy, and he graciously accepted the offer, demonstrating his commitment and eagerness to stay involved with us.
Ultimately, Natalie showed up, and the three shared the news with her. Upon hearing it, she embraced her brother, evidently understanding that his action stemmed from a good intention.
Did the restaurant survive?

To be honest, we can’t say for certain. The computer suggested to Natalie that the restaurant’s situation was improving and it might survive past the two-month grace period. However, this didn’t imply they would flourish or have a successful future in general.
A proposal was made that Ebraheim’s idea of franchiseing the sandwich counter might be beneficial for the future finances of the restaurant, due to its high profit margins. On the other hand, Carmy’s choice to standardize the menu to one option led to cost savings.
In the end, when the season wrapped up, Cicero’s countdown timer hit zero, following a shared admission from Sydney and Richie that they were unsure if they could continue operating the restaurant.
If The Bear gets a fifth season, it’s likely to tackle this query, though it’s currently unclear if the show itself will continue after The Bear or if Carmy’s conclusion of his personal journey might signal the series finale.
