The renowned music documentary “The Beatles Anthology” is set for a remaster by esteemed producer Peter Jackson, featuring a new episode and the debut of previously undiscovered audio tracks from the iconic band.
1995 saw an ITV series of eight episodes capturing global attention as it reunited the surviving Beatles members – Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison – alongside their long-time producer, George Martin. This unique gathering aimed to explore and delve into the remarkable history of the band’s incredible legacy.
In honor of the 30th anniversary, Jackson’s film production companies, Wingnut Films and Park Road Post, are enhancing the documentary series for streaming on Disney+. Additionally, they are developing a fresh, ninth episode.
The supplementary chapter delves into the creation process behind The Beatles Anthology, a topic that sparked curiosity among fans, especially since it coincided with the debut of “Free as a Bird,” their first new production in 25 years.
Continuing a longstanding practice, the re-mastered edition of The Beatles Anthology will also feature an album full of previously unheard session takes, seldom-heard recordings, and unreleased demo tracks.
In November, the Beatles’ anthology is scheduled for release on Disney+, along with the mentioned album and a revised version of the accompanying book.
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I’ve always held The Beatles in high regard. In 2021, I had the privilege of delving into their world with my miniseries titled Get Back. This captivating production offered an unprecedented look into the creation of their final studio album, Let It Be, by leveraging a priceless collection of re-mastered footage from 1970 that captured the band working harmoniously together.
Suffice to say, this remaster is in safe hands.
Another grand Beatles undertaking is on its way, but not exclusively. At present, Skyfall’s Sam Mendes is engrossed in creating a series of four movies that delve into the lives of each Beatle individually, all linked together.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share the exciting news about some of this year’s most anticipated castings! Paul Mescal, who stole our hearts in Gladiator II, will be portraying the legendary Paul McCartney. Harris Dickinson, known for his captivating performance in Babygirl, has been chosen to play John Lennon. Joseph Quinn from Fantastic Four: First Steps will bring George Harrison to life on screen, and Barry Keoghan, a familiar face from Saltburn, has landed the role of Ringo Starr. It’s going to be one heck of a ride!
The entire four-part film series is currently eyeing a cinema release in April 2028.
The Beatles Anthology is coming soon to Disney+.
