The Best Comic Book Movie Trilogy of the ’90s Just Started Streaming on Paramount+

As a huge comic book movie fan, I’ve loved seeing how much the genre has exploded over the last twenty years! We’ve had the amazing Marvel Cinematic Universe, the X-Men made a big comeback, and now we’ve got two different DC universes playing out on the big screen. It’s easy to get caught up in all the recent success, but it’s cool to remember that some of these characters actually started gaining traction way back in the 90s. That decade gave us awesome movies like Blade and the first X-Men film, plus iconic stuff like The Crow and Men in Black. And let’s not forget the original Spider-Man trilogy – it was the only time a brand-new comic book franchise got a full three-movie run back then!

Back in 1990, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jumped from comic books and animated series to the big screen with their first live-action movie. That film was a hit, launching a full-fledged franchise and leading to two quick sequels. Now, good news for longtime fans and new viewers alike – all three original movies are now available to stream on Paramount+.

Paramount+ Is Officially the Best Streaming Service for TMNT Fans

Beginning November 1st, you can stream all three original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III – on Paramount+. These films haven’t been available for streaming in a while, possibly because the first movie recently returned to theaters with a successful re-release. It’s exciting news for longtime fans, and a great opportunity for anyone new to discover these classic films.

The initial live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies are especially remembered for their incredible effects, created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. These weren’t just costumes; performers inside the suits acted and did the martial arts on set, while puppeteers controlled the Turtles’ faces just out of view. It’s a fantastic example of practical movie magic that still looks good today, especially compared to the computer-generated effects in newer films. While the third movie isn’t as strong, longtime fans still find it enjoyable.

Now, Paramount+ is the ultimate destination for Ninja Turtle fans! Along with the three original 1990s movies, the streaming service offers almost everything a fan could ask for. That includes the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and its animated series, as well as classic shows like the original 1987 series, the 2003 and 2012 reboots, and 2018’s Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Plus, they have both live-action films from Platinum Dunes and the 2014 documentary, Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

As a huge TMNT fan, I’ve been so impressed with everything Paramount+ has to offer! They’ve really gathered almost the entire TMNT universe in one place. The only things missing are a few titles: the 2007 animated movie TMNT, the 2009 TV movie Turtles Forever, and the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie that was made for Netflix. But honestly, it’s still the best streaming spot for anyone wanting to dive into the world of the Ninja Turtles.
