As a huge DC fan, I’m already getting excited about what the new DCU will bring! Everyone’s talking about who will play key roles, especially when it comes to Gotham City. It seems like “The Brave and the Bold” is going to really expand the Bat Family on screen, and honestly, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before we see Batgirl join the fun. It’s less if she’ll appear, and more when!
As a huge DC fan, I’m really excited about one actress I’ve heard mentioned for the new Batgirl. The thing is, if they cast her, everyone will immediately want one specific actor to play her dad, Commissioner Gordon, and honestly, I wouldn’t mind at all! It’d be a perfect pairing, but it might create a lot of pressure on the casting directors.

Maya Hawke would be a fantastic pick to play Barbara Gordon in the DC Universe. After her popular role as Robin Buckley in Stranger Things, she’s shown she can convincingly portray a heroic character who is smart, funny, and strong-willed – all qualities that define Barbara Gordon.
Maya Hawke definitely has the right appearance and vibe to convincingly play Batgirl, as if she stepped right out of the comic books.
Since the upcoming movie The Brave and the Bold might introduce Damian Wayne as the current Robin, the film will likely show Batman’s history with his past Robins and Batgirl, staying true to the comic books. Because of this, producers may already be searching for an actress to play Batgirl for the first DC Universe movie set in Gotham.
If Maya Hawke were cast as Batgirl, DC Studios would automatically need to cast her father as Jim Gordon.
Casting Maya Hawke As Batgirl Would Make Ethan Hawke As Commissioner Gordon Necessary
As a film buff, I think casting Maya Hawke as Batgirl would be brilliant, and it would open the door to something even cooler – imagine Ethan Hawke as Commissioner Gordon! They’d have amazing on-screen chemistry, and it just feels right, you know?
Ethan isn’t just a natural fit for the role due to his relationship with his father; he’s a talented actor who can convincingly play a key ally of Batman. Plus, he’s already proven his ability in the superhero genre, having played the villain Arthur Harrow in Marvel’s Moon Knight.
To truly get audiences excited about James Gunn’s new take on Gotham City, casting Maya and Ethan Hawke as Batgirl and Jim Gordon is a brilliant and engaging choice that could be key to its success.
