Many Netflix viewers were unhappy at the beginning of the year when several popular movies were removed from the platform. Unfortunately, this trend will continue next month, with even more great films disappearing – including what some consider one of the best movies in recent decades.
The critically acclaimed film Parasite, directed by Bong Joon-ho and a winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture, will be removed from Netflix on January 31st. If you haven’t seen it, you only have a few weeks left to watch it on the streaming service.
Movie fans who subscribe to Netflix will be disappointed to hear that Parasite is leaving the service. It’s widely considered one of the best films available on the platform. This darkly comedic thriller follows a poor Korean family as they cleverly infiltrate the household of a wealthy family. When the wealthy family goes away for the weekend, hidden secrets within their home begin to unravel in unexpected ways.
What Else Is Leaving Netflix?
Netflix subscribers can expect a frustrating few weeks at the end of January, with a lot of popular movies and shows being removed from the service. The streamer already took down several titles earlier in the month, and more content will be disappearing later in January.
Although Netflix hasn’t officially announced recent content removals, they’ve started adding “Leaving Soon” notices to titles that will be taken off the platform in the coming weeks. Along with the film Parasite, movies like Donnie Darko, 28 Days Later, and The Terminator are all scheduled to be removed in January.
Here’s a list of the most popular movies and shows Netflix will be removing in the next few weeks.
Here’s a list of movie titles: 28 Days Later, Anaconda, Charlie’s Angels, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Donnie Darko, Face/Off, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Groundhog Day, The Hateful Eight, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Maze Runner, Maze Runner: Scorch Trials, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Oblivion, The One, Parasite, The Patriot, Radio, RV, The Terminator, Turbo, What Lies Beneath, and Wick Is Pain.
