The Best Winter 2026 Anime Has Already Been Decided

Winter 2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic anime season! Several popular shows like Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Hell’s Paradise, and Fire Force are returning with new seasons. We’ll also see the debut of new series, including the highly anticipated You and I Are Polar Opposites from Shonen Jump. While most of the Winter 2026 anime haven’t premiered yet, excitement is already building, especially for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2, which Animate Times surveys show is the most recommended series of the season.

The anime first aired in September 2023, with a total of 28 episodes split into two parts. Ever since the first season ended in March 2024, fans have been eagerly waiting for a second season. This list of 15 popular anime also includes Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen at number two and Season 3 of Oshi no Ko in third. Besides these, fans are also looking forward to new seasons of Medalist and Hell’s Paradise, among others. While most of the titles are continuations of existing series, the list also features some brand new anime like You and I Are Polar Opposites and The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Will Continue the Main Trio’s Journey

The first season of the anime covers the manga up to chapter 60, finishing with the First-Class Mage Exam. This exam is the final stage, and Fern successfully passes, becoming an official first-class mage. With this achievement, Frieren’s group overcomes the main obstacle preventing them from entering Aureole – a mysterious land where souls go after death. While Frieren didn’t earn the rank herself, the requirement was simply for one member of the party to achieve First-Class status.

Frieren and her companions depart Äußerst, quickly saying goodbye to the other test-takers – Frieren remembers Himmel advising against long farewells so future reunions would be even sweeter. The second season will begin with the continuation of their northern journey, introducing new characters and tougher obstacles. While the number of episodes is still unknown, the season will likely cover the Divine Revolte Arc, in which Frieren’s group is asked to defeat a demon responsible for the destruction of a village in the Rufen Region of the Northern Plateau.

Because the upcoming arcs aren’t very long, the anime might even cover “The Golden Land Arc,” which follows Frieren and her friends as they journey north in search of a legendary place. The second season will be available to stream on Crunchyroll, where you can also watch the first season. If you’d like to read the manga, all chapters of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End are available for free on Viz Media’s website, and you can also purchase digital or physical copies there.
