Good news for fans of The Big Bang Theory! A new spin-off series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, is now in production.
This show is the third spin-off of the original sitcom, making it the fourth series set in The Big Bang Theory world. It was created by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, who also created the original show.
Prady announced the start of filming on Instagram, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo and the caption: “Here we go! #stuartfailstosavetheuniverse.”
Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn, and John Ross Bowie will all return as their characters Stuart, Denise, Bert, and Barry in the new series. However, this installment will lean more heavily into science fiction than anything fans have seen before in the show’s history.

The show follows Stuart Bloom, a comic book store owner, who must fix reality after he damages a machine created by Sheldon and Leonard. His mistake unleashes a multiversal crisis.
Stuart gets help on his journey from his girlfriend, Denise (Lapkus), his friend Bert, a geologist (Posehn), and the annoyingly brilliant quantum physicist Barry Kripke (Bowie).
During their journey, the characters encounter different versions of familiar faces from The Big Bang Theory. And, as the title suggests, it doesn’t end happily.
It’s still unclear if any of the main actors from The Big Bang Theory – including Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik – will reprise their roles, but the show’s creator, Lorre, has hinted that it’s a possibility.
He hinted that if you’re hoping to see the original Big Bang Theory cast return, even in a different universe, you’ll really enjoy this new show.
