Getting general audiences to see a film that isn’t part of a well-known series has become difficult, and that could impact Project Hail Mary‘s success, especially considering how much it cost to make.

According to a report in Puck, the movie Project Hail Mary had a production budget of $248 million. However, tax incentives brought that cost down to just under $200 million. Despite this still being a significant expense, early signs are positive. Projections suggest the film could open with around $50 million in domestic box office sales.
