As a seasoned moviegoer and motorcycle enthusiast, I was thrilled to hear that “The Bikeriders,” the critically acclaimed film based on Danny Lyons’ ’60s photobook, is now available for digital rental or purchase. The prospect of an all-star cast including Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy, combined with the director’s commitment to authentic motorcycle riding, piqued my interest.
After its successful run in theaters last month, you can now rent or purchase the critically-acclaimed movie “The Bikeriders” for digital download.
The film draws inspiration from a well-known ’60s photobook of the same title by Danny Lyons. It boasts an impressive ensemble of actors such as Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy.
As a movie buff, I can’t help but feel disappointed when I watch a film and notice inauthentic details, such as motorcycles not being ridden correctly. Director Jeff Nichols expresses this very sentiment at the start of the video.
“We’ve worked with these actors and we’ve gotten them up…. riding these motorcycles.”
Simultaneously, Sarah Green, the producer, shares her concerns about managing numerous actors on antique motorcycles, an anxiety-inducing situation with significant health and safety risks involved.
“One of the biggest things was the fact that they didn’t wear helmets in those days,” she reveals.
In addition to the footage, some actors share personal anecdotes from the production. Toby Wallace describes taking a brief driving class to obtain his learner’s permit, while Boyd Holbrook talks about navigating through cones as part of their training exercises.
Some stars, including Damon Herriman, have developed a newfound passion for motorcycles. He shared, “I’ve caught the bug. Although I’m old enough to ask my parents for a motorbike without fear, I’m still hesitant to tell them that’s what I want!”
The one-minute video concludes with Holbrook expressing, “I can attest from my motorcycle experiences that it represents complete freedom,” followed by a scene from the movie showing Austin Butler’s character, Benny, joyfully riding on an open road and letting out loud whoops.
Over the span of ten years, a Midwest motorcycle club transforms from a hangout spot for social outcasts into a menacing gang, endangering the very fabric of the original members’ community.
The Bikeriders is now available to rent or buy on digital download.
