Season 5 of The Boys is already packed with action as Homelander and the other members of The Seven clash with Billy Butcher, Starlight, and other heroes. Now, Soldier Boy’s return is adding another layer of complexity. In just the first three episodes, Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles, has been revived from cryo-freeze, nearly succumbed to a deadly virus, and his survival due to his unique V-1 blood has triggered a scramble to find more. This search for V-1 blood appears to be a central focus for the rest of the season. (Warning: Spoilers for The Boys Season 5, Episode 3, “Every One of You Sons of B*tches.”)
Okay, let’s talk about Soldier Boy’s… extracurricular activities. He gets involved with Firecracker, and it’s quickly revealed this is less about attraction and more about a twisted attempt at revenge against his son. It’s a bit deflated when we learn Firecracker and Homelander weren’t close, though. But here’s where it gets interesting: fans are convinced this encounter has given Firecracker the virus that kills Supes, and she’s not going to survive. The theory is really taking off, and honestly, X user @b1ngbvag_ put it best in a post I saw – it’s a truly compelling, if disturbing, thought.
guys the concept of firecrackers death being caused by solider boys virus infested nut..#TheBoys

Soldier Boy Killing Firecracker This Way Wouldn’t Be A Shocker In The Boys

Just because someone is immune to a virus doesn’t mean they can’t still spread it, and this likely holds true for the virus that harms Supes in The Boys. Sadly, Firecracker is probably going to die in Season 5, as the show seems to be building towards a final showdown with Homelander, putting all members of the Seven in danger. While there are many possibilities for how she might die, being killed by Soldier Boy’s infected sperm would be a shockingly unexpected twist – and a ‘Supe Transmitted Disease’ is exactly the kind of bold move the writers might make to increase the tension in the final season.
The show doesn’t necessarily need to address Soldier Boy and Firecracker’s encounter with major repercussions. The Boys has featured intimate scenes before, often for shock, humor, or to develop character relationships. Perhaps simply acknowledging their arousal during a conversation about weapons will suffice. However, the fact that it seems to downplay the focus on Homelander’s revenge suggests there’s a larger purpose. The idea of Soldier Boy being invulnerable, yet still causing harm to another Supe during the attack, aligns with the show’s established patterns.
Another possibility is that Firecracker is pregnant with Soldier Boy’s child. We know Soldier Boy is capable of having children – Homelander was created using his sperm – so if Firecracker and he weren’t using protection, it’s a plausible scenario. While there might not be enough time left this season to fully develop that storyline, making it less likely than a character death, it would be a fittingly ironic twist given Firecracker’s complicated, motherly connection with Homelander, especially as the show nears its conclusion.
New episodes of The Boys release on Wednesdays on Prime Video.
