The Boys Just Changed Season 5 & the War Against Homelander in 4 Huge Ways

Season 4 of *The Boys* is packed with shocking scenes – think truly disturbing imagery like Billy Butcher’s new, terrifying abilities, and most of the team facing jail time. Things at Vought Tower are chaotic, with everyone fearing for their safety. But the biggest threat is Homelander, who’s abandoned any pretense of being a hero and is now determined to rule the world. The situation is so dire that even the White House is giving in to his demands, essentially giving him free rein as the show heads into its final season.

Although it appears we have all the details about Season 5 of The Boys, that’s not quite true. Season 2 of the spin-off, Gen V, is revealing surprising events that will significantly impact both the main show and the character Homelander. Here’s how the Boys universe has changed leading into Season 5 and the ongoing fight against Homelander.

4) Homelander Finally Has an Equal

The major twist in *Gen V* Season 2 centers on Marie Moreau, the blood-controlling Supe. Despite her reluctance, Marie begins training with the newly resurrected Cipher, and the results are immediate and dramatic. She quickly becomes incredibly powerful, leading both Cipher and Stan Edgar to believe she could eventually be as strong as Homelander. If that’s true, it won’t be long before Homelander finds himself facing off against a growing number of powerful Supes with a vendetta.

3) Homelander May Not Be the Real Villain of the Series

In the season finale of *Gen V*, the only thing stopping Marie from facing Homelander is the unexpected return of Thomas Godolkin. The founder of Godolkin University is revealed to be alive and is manipulating events through Cipher. If his followers, the Guardians of Godolkin, let him escape, he could cause widespread destruction. He’s such a threat that he might even overshadow Homelander, potentially eliminating any Supes who don’t align with his goals.

2) Homelander Could Lose Control of Himself

Homelander doesn’t like being second-in-command, so he’ll likely try to eliminate Godolkin, who is the only one capable of controlling him. However, this confrontation might not go Homelander’s way. Homelander lacks the mental defenses to resist Godolkin’s influence, and his own fragile mind would make him vulnerable to manipulation.

1) A New Powerhouse Is on the Field

If Godolkin escapes at the end of *Gen V* Season 2, it would create a major problem. Luckily, the heroes have Polarity, whose ability to control electromagnetic waves could be a game-changer. If Godolkin appears in *The Boys* Season 5, Polarity could effectively neutralize him, preventing the villain from gaining any traction.

Gen V Season 2 is streaming on Prime Video.
