The Boys rarely gives characters a chance to turn their lives around. Characters generally stay true to their nature, and often become even more flawed. Billy Butcher begins the series determined to take down Supes, and he relentlessly pursues that goal. But heading into Season 5, he’s become increasingly extreme, even attacking Victoria Neuman despite her offer to join forces against Homelander. Butcher has gone too far and is now isolated, preparing for a final, desperate act.
It’s too bad he doesn’t work better with others, because Starlight really needs the support. Even though Homelander chased her, she managed to get away at the end of The Boys Season 4 and started working with the new Supes in Gen V Season 2, showing them they can be forces for good. Luckily, Starlight has an ally who’s known for a fantastic comeback story.
Starlight Finally Reveals Her Ally in Gen V‘s Season 2 Finale

At the beginning of Gen V Season 2, Starlight seeks out Marie Moreau hoping to uncover the truth about Project Odessa, a previously abandoned Vought program that’s been reactivated. Marie hesitantly returns to school to investigate, but things quickly become dangerous. She discovers she’s one of only two people Project Odessa successfully experimented on, and that Thomas Godolkin is orchestrating everything, trying to attract her. After inadvertently restoring Godolkin’s health, Marie understands the full extent of the threat and defeats him before leaving campus with her friends. While traveling, they unexpectedly encounter Starlight again.
Starlight isn’t traveling by herself; she’s joined by A-Train, the Supe whose actions kickstarted the events of The Boys. His presence is noteworthy because his location has been unknown. After leaving Vought Tower in Season 4 without explanation, it’s clear he’s switched sides and is now working with a former opponent. Though their plans aren’t fully revealed, it seems A-Train intends to help Hughie Campbell once again.
A-Train Will Play a Major Role in The Boys Season 5

Even though Starlight and A-Train are strong, they realize they can’t defeat Homelander on their own, so they ask the Guardians of Godolkin for help. They’ll need everyone available when the fighting starts, and extra heroes are always useful. Unfortunately, some of their most experienced members – Hughie, Mother’s Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko – are currently in prison, arrested by Homelander’s followers. Before they can continue their fight, they need to free these teammates, and they need a super-fast hero to pull off the rescue.
After Hughie and his friends are safe, A-Train will focus on settling scores with The Deep, Black Noir, and anyone else at Vought who has wronged him. While joining the good guys doesn’t ensure his safety if Homelander attacks, A-Train would find a meaningful end fighting against his old boss. He’d go from being known as the man who ruined Hughie’s life to the one who ultimately saved it.
