The quality of a superhero show largely depends on its action scenes. A common criticism of *Peacemaker* Season 2 is that the main character doesn’t fight enough. While the season focuses more on developing the characters, viewers expect a certain level of action when watching a show with superpowered individuals. The Marvel Cinematic Universe knows this – they wouldn’t release a series with all the fight scenes removed. Thankfully, another superhero show, *Gen V*, seems to understand this principle.
The second season of *Gen V* really puts its characters to the test. They just want normal lives, but they’re constantly dealing with the dangerous head of God U. Their attempt to stop Cipher leads to intense action – some of the best the entire *The Boys* universe has offered, rivaling even the famous battle with Stormfront.
“Girls Get It Done” Is Everything That’s Great About The Boys
In the second season of *The Boys*, a new superhero named Stormfront appears, but her past is suspicious. The Boys investigate and reveal to the public that she has Nazi ties. When Stormfront finds out, she goes after Starlight, but Kimiko intervenes to help. Despite their efforts, Stormfront is incredibly powerful – almost as strong as Homelander – so Queen Maeve joins the fight.
The three women relentlessly attack Stormfront, finally releasing all their anger on the villain. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie watch the beating, with Frenchie jokingly referencing Vought’s awkward slogan, “Girls really do get it done.” While it’s satisfying to see Stormfront get defeated in a visually impressive fight, *Gen V* surpasses this scene by creating a different kind of battle where its strongest characters can truly unleash their powers.
Gen V‘s Final Cipher Fight Is What Superhero Shows Are Made for
In Season 2, Episode 6 of *Gen V*, titled “Cooking Lessons,” Marie Moreau thinks she’s discovered how to finally defeat Cipher. Stan Edgar then reveals that Thomas Godolkin might still be alive and is possibly the elderly man accompanying Cipher. With this new information, Marie, in Episode 7, “Hell Week,” brings Cate and Polarity with her to confront Cipher. The plan is for Polarity to distract Cipher while Marie quietly goes to wake up Godolkin, but the group faces an unexpected problem. Cipher takes control of their bodies, turning them against Polarity instead of allowing them to help.
Whenever Polarity gets close to capturing Cipher, one of the children attacks, and these hits pack a serious punch – Jordan Li, Sam Riordan, and Gary all have incredible strength. The four of them end up in a full-on brawl before Polarity uses his powers to stop it. He creates a powerful electromagnetic shockwave that knocks everyone down, including Cipher. Unfortunately, Cipher doesn’t stay down for good; it’s revealed that Godolkin had been controlling a bystander all along. But before that twist, the fight was fantastic, showcasing the raw power Supes are capable of when they really let loose.
