The Boys’ Original Villain Returns & Sets Up Multiple Season 5 Twists

While the *Boys* spin-off *Gen V* initially presents itself as a relatively low-stakes story, the first season quickly reveals a much larger conflict. It centers on Godolkin University, a school for training young superheroes, and Marie Moreau, a student who doesn’t quite fit in. She ultimately becomes central to uncovering a dangerous virus the school is developing. The season ends with Marie and her friends imprisoned at the Elmira Adult Rehabilitation Center, and the second season embraces the show’s high stakes from the start.

The second season kicks off with a guest appearance by Starlight, who asks Marie for information about Vought’s mysterious Project Odessa. Throughout the season, we also get hints about Homelander’s growing ambition to dominate not just the US, but the world. Now, a third major development from *The Boys* has arrived, and it’s quickly laying the groundwork for what’s to come in the series.

Marie Moreau Meets the Former Head of Vought in Gen V Season 2

Once Marie and her friends returned to school after their time in Elmira, they immediately began to resist the new dean, Cipher, and actively plotted against him. This defiance led them right back to Elmira, but this time, Marie’s sister, Annabeth, was caught in the middle, manipulated by Cipher. Just when things seemed dire, Sam Riordan arrived to help them escape. The group stole a van and sought refuge in a nearby library to recover from the chaos. Unfortunately, Cipher’s right-hand man, Vikor, soon followed, ready to cause more trouble.

Things were looking really bad for the heroes until Zoe Neuman showed up and shockingly used her powers to severely injure Vikor. She arrived with her grandfather, Stan Edgar, the previous head of Vought. Edgar gets straight to the point, explaining to Marie that he wants her to join him, believing she’s his best hope to regain control. Seeing no other option, Marie and her team agree and share information once they reach Edgar’s base. It quickly becomes clear that Edgar isn’t staying neutral in the upcoming fight with Homelander – he actually might be better equipped than The Boys to defeat the leader of The Seven.

Stan Edgar Could Be a Major Factor in The Boys Season 5

Edgar isn’t planning on using brute force against Supes like Billy Butcher. Instead, after getting out of jail, he’s been searching the world for information about Thomas Godolkin’s research. He wants to find a way to control and defeat dangerous Supes, with Homelander as his primary target. Knowing a direct fight with Homelander would be incredibly difficult, Edgar wants a powerful backup plan, and Marie is perfect for the job. He explains that she and Homelander are the only two people left from a project called Odessa, meaning they’re equally powerful. Although Marie is hesitant, Edgar offers her a deal she can’t refuse: his help with her and her friends, in exchange for her cooperation.

Starlight, though one of the few willing to oppose Homelander, isn’t helping Marie by sending her back to a place that causes her so much suffering. Edgar’s methods are completely different from Starlight’s, and that difference is crucial. Marie might realize that following Edgar, rather than one of her heroes, could be the better path, and she might start working towards his goals. If Edgar wins in the end, he could be incredibly dangerous, as he’s never shown himself to be a trustworthy person. The world could end up under the control of another tyrant, and Starlight would be responsible for letting that happen.
