Prime Video has announced that season 5 of The Boys will begin with two new episodes, launching the season on a specific date.
The last season of the show will begin on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026, with new episodes released each week. The season will conclude on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026.
A new trailer for the fifth season of the show was unveiled at the CCXP fan convention in Brazil this weekend, and the release date was also announced.
The new footage gives fans their first glimpse of Jared Padalecki’s character, setting up a reunion with Jensen Ackles, who is reprising his role as Soldier Boy. Padalecki appears briefly wearing a tracksuit, with Ackles’s character close behind, but the specifics of his part are still a secret.

Misha Collins, known for his role in Supernatural, will also be in season 5 of The Boys, though he wasn’t featured in the latest trailer. Interestingly, Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural, is also the showrunner for The Boys.
An official synopsis reveals a grim outlook for the core team following season 4. Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are now imprisoned in a so-called “Freedom Camp”, while Homelander (Antony Starr) rules unchallenged.
“It’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims” the synopsis reads.
Butcher (Karl Urban) returns with a daring scheme centered around the Godolkin virus. According to the show’s description, his actions will trigger a series of events that fundamentally alter the world and the lives of everyone in it.
The next season will pick up right after the events of the recent Gen V season.
The second season of Gen V ended with Polarity warning Marie and her friends that Vought would be after them, leading the group to flee. They were quickly approached by Starlight, who told them she was building a resistance movement against Homelander and asked them to become part of it.
A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) showed up and revealed he’s also joining the fight against Homelander, suggesting the young heroes from Godolkin University will be important in the next season of The Boys.
He explained that the main purpose of the current storylines was to prepare for season 5. This involves a rising rebellion spearheaded by Annie, now joined by A-Train and the students from Gen V. He also revealed that season 5 begins several months after the Gen V finale, and unfortunately, things haven’t been going well for the resistance during that time.
Although fans are hoping to see Marie and Homelander face off, the showrunner, Kripke, has hinted the central conflict will be larger than just a battle between those two characters. He emphasized it won’t simply be ‘Marie versus Homelander’.
The Boys season 5 premieres on Prime Video on 8th April 2026.
