Jessie T. Usher, who plays A-Train in The Boys, recently shared details about his character’s arc in Season 5, and some viewers believe he accidentally revealed a major spoiler – that A-Train might die. Throughout the series, A-Train has undergone a significant transformation, evolving from a self-centered and impulsive hero to someone genuinely trying to do the right thing, though this new path comes with serious danger. He fully joined the fight against Homelander at the end of Season 4, but his loyalty could cost him his life, as Homelander is known for punishing those who betray him.
While promoting the last season of The Boys, Jessie T. Usher spoke with ABS-CBN News about how he felt about his character A-Train’s ending. He accidentally revealed he shared a special moment with Anthony Starr, who plays Homelander, during the filming of his final scene.
ABS-CBN News asked Jessie T. Usher if he was happy with how his character, A-Train, was written off the show. Usher said he was satisfied, explaining that he’d predicted the ending for a while. He was particularly pleased that A-Train and Anthony had a private moment together to conclude their storyline.
The actor hinted that a deadly showdown between his character, A-Train, and the villain Homelander will occur in Season 5 of The Boys, strongly suggesting A-Train will die.

In the original The Boys comic books, Hughie (the character played by Jack Quaid) was the one who killed A-Train. This happened after A-Train brutally kicked Hughie’s head, and after admitting he felt no regret for the death of Hughie’s girlfriend, Robin. Billy Butcher intentionally fueled Hughie’s anger by playing recordings of A-Train, ultimately pushing him to deliver the final blow.
Interestingly, The Boys showed that Hughie and A-Train (Reggie Franklin) have resolved their differences and are now working together to fight back.
The Boys is set to have a two-episode premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, April 8.
Why A-Train’s Death Is Heartbreaking In The Boys Season 5

In Season 4 of The Boys, A-Train began a tragic storyline that seems destined to conclude in the final season. He put himself at risk by secretly helping The Boys with crucial information, Compound V, and even anonymously saving people, all while deceiving Homelander.
In Season 4, Episode 7 of The Boys, it became clear that Homelander was truly upset by A-Train’s betrayal. This showed that, despite his powerful and often cruel nature, he did care about his teammate, even though A-Train was the one who leaked information against him.
If Homelander were to kill A-Train, it would be a huge loss for the show, and sadly end what has been a really powerful and rewarding journey for A-Train’s character.
It’s particularly sad that Homelander will be the one to kill A-Train, as it would end their complicated and damaging relationship, which has been central to A-Train’s time with The Seven. If A-Train dies in the final season, he won’t live to see Vought fall, and he’ll be denied the opportunity to repair his relationships with his family.
A-Train’s death would demonstrate that no character is truly safe in the world of The Boys, as even popular heroes can die unexpectedly. (You can find more spoilers about Season 5 here.)
