The Amazon Prime series “The Boys” offers a unique perspective on the superhero genre, and this aspect is deeply ingrained within its core. This is particularly true for the team known as The Seven, but even more so for Homelander, who embodies what power like Superman’s might look like when devoid of morality or empathy. Given that Superman has recently made a comeback in James Gunn’s latest film, it was an opportune moment for someone to attend the premiere dressed as Homelander. Now, a cast member from “The Boys” has given the most fitting response to this viral event.
At a Superman movie premiere, Skipvalenz posted a video of someone entering the theater dressed as Homelander, the character played by Antony Starr. Impressed by this, Starr then reposted the video and added, “This is something everyone should strive for. More people should cosplay as rival characters. It’s cool.” Later, when the post was shared with his quote included, Starr confirmed it by writing, “I fully endorse this sentiment.” You can see the original post below.
Throughout its four seasons, the show has frequently drawn comparisons between Homelander and Superman, a comparison that will persist in the forthcoming fifth and final season. Behind closed doors and among those familiar with him, however, Homelander often reveals himself to be more of a monster than a hero. The creator of the series, Eric Kripke, has revealed why the show is concluding with its fifth installment, despite its ongoing popularity.
According to Kripke, when it comes to screenwriting, the numbers three and five hold significant importance. Three represents acts in a movie or TV show, while jokes often follow a pattern of three for five. Five is simply a well-rounded number that provides enough structure to tell a story without overstaying its welcome or becoming repetitive. Kripke had been eager to share this information with everyone, and he was excited to finally be able to do so.
Although Kripke eagerly looks forward to carrying out a five-season strategy, this doesn’t prevent him from feeling melancholic about ending the series and the fantastic memories associated with it, which he conveyed through a heartfelt Instagram post straight from the set.
Kripke posted a picture from the set with the caption, “This is my final day on this set, which will be demolished soon. It’s both sad and joyful for me, but I’m mostly feeling grateful. We have an exceptional cast, crew, engaging storyline, and an unpredictable element: perfect timing. Most people in our profession spend their entire career hoping to find just two of those elements.
