The Boys Star Warns That Season 5 Will Be Brutal: ‘Nobody Is Safe’

Good news for fans of Prime Video’s ! The fifth and final season of the popular, darkly funny superhero series arrives in just two months. However, star Karl Urban is letting viewers know they should prepare for some heartbreaking losses, as not all of their beloved characters will survive until the very end.

While at the Los Angeles premiere of his film The Bluff, Urban spoke with Variety about what viewers can expect from Season 5 of The Boys. He hinted that the season will build to a major and exciting climax.

Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher in ‘The Boys,’ has teased a shocking final season. He promised fans will be surprised from the very first episode, saying, ‘Nobody is safe,’ and hinting at major character deaths right away. ‘Let’s go, last season, it’s all on,’ he added.

The Boys Is Concluding, But Not the Universe

As a huge fan of The Boys, I was a little sad to hear that Season 5 will be the last one. Prime Video announced it back in June 2024, and Eric Kripke, the showrunner, confirmed it on social media soon after. Luckily, they started filming in November 2024 and wrapped up in June 2025, and we even got a first look with a teaser trailer in December!

The summary and Urban’s statements match what Kripke said earlier about the final season, where he cautioned fans in August 2024 to anticipate “many deaths.”

The fifth season will be the last for The Boys television series. However, the story isn’t over! A new prequel called Vought Rising is being made, and it will focus on the origins of Soldier Boy (played by Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (played by Aya Cash).

Soldier Boy is joining forces with Bombsight (played by Mason Dye), Private Angel (Elizabeth Posey), and Torpedo (Will Hochman) as part of a new team. A social media post from the show The Boys hinted at this in August 2025, starting with the phrase “Once upon a time…”.

Prime Video’s Gen V takes place in New York City between seasons of The Boys. Another spinoff, currently called The Boys: Mexico, is also in the works. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who wrote the screenplay for Blue Beetle, will lead the potential series as showrunner and writer, and will also produce it alongside actors Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, who may also star.

The Boys Season 5 premieres on Prime Video on Apr. 8.
