Peacock has released a new trailer for its upcoming remake of the 1989 comedy classic, The Burbs. Keke Palmer takes over the lead role previously held by Tom Hanks. The trailer gives viewers a detailed preview of the series before it premieres on the streaming service in February. According to the official description, the show invites audiences to investigate a seemingly normal neighborhood that’s hiding dangerous secrets.
The movie The ‘Burbs takes place in a typical modern suburb and centers on a couple who move back to the husband’s hometown. Their peaceful life is disrupted by the arrival of new neighbors, who stir up long-hidden secrets and introduce dangerous threats to the community.
The trailer for The ‘Burbs shows Samira (played by Palmer) moving to “Ashfield Place,” a town supposedly known for being incredibly safe. The neighborhood seems idyllic – dogs are playing, and lawns are perfectly manicured – except for one strange, old Victorian house. Samira asks her neighbors about it, and they immediately warn her it’s a haunted house where a murder happened. Instead of being scared off, Samira becomes determined to uncover the mystery, though she’ll need to be cautious, as the original movie suggests things aren’t always what they seem with her new neighbors.
