The Capture season 3 finale confirmed to be extended episode – and “sacrifice is inevitable”

Good news for fans of The Capture: the season 3 finale will be longer than usual, giving the show plenty of time to conclude the story.

This episode will be 1 hour and 13 minutes long. You can watch it first on BBC iPlayer at 6am, and then it will be shown on BBC One between 9pm and 9:15pm.

Now that Pierson is missing, Carey takes complete charge of SO15 and quickly frees Whitlock, forcing Figgis to take action.

A surprising statement from Sir Rowan Gill at the Correction Inquiry suddenly puts Garland in the spotlight. Meanwhile, Pierson recovers and takes charge of the situation, aided by Wizard.

As E-Squadron launches its attack, Carey finds herself in a rapidly escalating and perilous predicament. It seems every move she makes has been anticipated, and she’s running out of people she can trust. Someone will have to make a difficult sacrifice, and Carey must decide how much she’s willing to risk to uncover the truth.

As a big fan, I’m really hoping this isn’t the last season, but honestly, the creator, Ben Chanan, has mentioned before that he treats every season as if it could be the end. So, it’s definitely possible this is it, which is a little scary!

You know, the creator actually told me they weren’t worried about killing off Frank Napier – Ron Perlman’s character, who everyone loved. They said because they knew this was the final season, making that tough call felt surprisingly straightforward. While writing it, they kept reminding themselves it was the last hurrah, which really helped them commit to the decision.

He admitted he wasn’t sure if something would happen, but said it’s good to approach each project as if it’s your last. He believes in not prolonging things just to keep people involved, but rather focusing on finishing strong.

What’s going to happen with Rachel Carey, played by Holliday Grainger? Viewers will have to wait just a few more days to see how her story ends.

The Capture season 3 will continue on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday 12 April 2026.
