A trailer has been released for the third season of the BBC thriller The Capture, four years after the second season aired. The new season will feature Holliday Grainger reprising her role as Rachel Carey, much to the delight of fans.
The trailer briefly shows familiar faces returning for the new season, including Paapa Essiedu as Isaac Turner, Indira Varma as Khadija Khan, Ben Miles as Danny Hart, Lia Williams as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder as Nadia Latif, Nigel Lindsay as Tom Kendricks, and Ron Perlman as Frank Napier.
The trailer introduces Joe Dempsie’s new character and focuses on Rachel, who is reporting on a growing crisis. During a news broadcast, she asks Khadija, and the audience, a pressing question: “A year ago, we wondered how to tell what’s real from what’s not. Now, that question is even more critical. How can we trust what we’re seeing?”

Season 3 picks up a year after Rachel Carey (Holliday Grainger) revealed a secret government program called Correction. She did this by broadcasting a fake video of a minister on live television, exposing the UK intelligence service’s practice of manipulating videos.
While under investigation for improper use of a police tool, Carey has been appointed Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command. She’s committed to rebuilding public confidence in surveillance technology using a new camera system called Operation Veritas.

Suddenly, a shockingly well-planned terrorist attack strikes at the center of British power, leaving only one person to bear witness.
As Carey digs further into the case, she finds herself increasingly entangled in a growing international crisis that reaches into the heart of British politics, intelligence agencies, and the press.
This conspiracy goes all the way to the highest levels of government, but the masterminds remain hidden. As the danger escalates and Carey loses allies, how far will she go to survive?
I’m so excited to see some new faces joining the show with Richard Dempsie! We’ve got Killian Scott, Hugh Quarshie, Linus Roache, Jonathan Aris, Andrew Buchan, and Amanda Drew all coming on board, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the series.
The Capture season 3 will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in spring 2026.
