The Comedy That Breaks Every Rule of TV Has Just Reached a Major Streaming Milestone

The Apple TV+ comedy, known for its honest portrayal of mental health and an Emmy nomination, has reached a major achievement: it’s been featured in the Top 10 streaming charts for a remarkable 600 days.

As a big fan of TV, I was really excited to see that Shrinking just passed 600 days on Apple TV+’s Top 10 list in the US! And it’s still number one – it’s been holding that spot all week. The show, starring Jason Segel as a therapist dealing with grief who starts getting really involved in his patients’ lives, is fantastic. Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, and Michael Urie are all amazing in it too. Plus, season three is currently on, so it’s a great time to check it out!

Created by Jason Segel, Bill Lawrence (known for Scrubs), and Brett Goldstein, Shrinking stands out because it doesn’t stick to the usual comedy-drama formula. The show genuinely explores difficult subjects like mental health and grief in a realistic way, which is a departure from how these topics are often handled – or avoided – in other comedies.

The show ‘Shrinking’ has been a success because it’s willing to try a new approach to comedy. Since premiering in 2023, it’s earned praise from critics who’ve particularly enjoyed the writing, humor, and acting. The first season even won two awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Jason Segel and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Jessica Williams.

Rotten Tomatoes gives the series an average rating of 92%. The third season, which began airing on January 28th, is receiving positive reviews from both critics and viewers. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the new episodes are a comforting and heartwarming experience, described as funny, emotionally touching, and gentle. New episodes will be released each week until April.

After an impressive 600 days on the charts, the show Shrinking shows no signs of losing popularity. Fans are expected to keep it near the top for the foreseeable future. If you haven’t discovered Shrinking yet, now is a great time to start! With ten episodes in Season 1 and twelve in Season 2, it’s perfect for a fun and easy weekend of watching.

Apple TV Already Renewed Shrinking for Season 4

Before Season 3 of Shrinking even premiered in January, Apple TV showed its confidence in the show by renewing it for another season. While we don’t know exactly when Season 4 will arrive, considering how long it’s been between seasons, it probably won’t be released until 2027 at the earliest. Good news for fans, though: new episodes of Season 3 are still being released throughout April!

I’m really enjoying Shrinking, and it’s not just the show’s willingness to be different with its humor. The guest stars have been fantastic too! We’ve already seen some great faces pop up, like Cobie Smulders from How I Met Your Mother, and even Christopher Lloyd, who I loved in Back to the Future! Candice Bergen from Boston Legal was a treat as well. I’m hoping Season 4 continues this trend of bringing in awesome guest actors – it really adds another layer to the show.

Shrinking is now streaming on Apple TV.
