God Slayer is a recently released game from Pathea Games. It’s set in a world built by powerful beings called Celestials, who survive by taking the life force of humans. But humanity isn’t defenseless – they’re learning to use a special energy called chi to challenge the Celestials.
The game is set in a stunning, steampunk city – the capital of the Zhou Kingdom. Players can explore a vast open world filled with airships, trains, and factories powered by steam. The city sharply contrasts the luxurious lives of the rich with the struggles of the poor.

You may already know Pathea Games – I certainly do! They’re the creators of popular titles like *My Time at Portia*, a highly-rated farming simulator on Steam. They also made *Let’s School*, a game where you manage a school as its headmaster.
The company’s games usually have a bright, cartoon-like look. However, their new game, God Slayer, is different – it’s going for a more realistic and darker feel.

Pathea Games recently shared a 9-minute gameplay trailer so players can get a feel for the game. The trailer begins with a 2-minute cinematic introduction, establishing the game’s atmosphere, before showcasing actual gameplay footage.
This isn’t the finished game, but it offers a solid preview of the experience, with action-packed combat that feels like games such as The Witcher 3.

Showcasing that you can interact with the environment in The God Slayer
What I found most impressive was how players could directly interact with the game world. They weren’t just using powers *on* enemies, but *with* the environment itself. For instance, you could manipulate things like roof tiles to make enemies lose their footing and fall off.
If the whole city is as complex and challenging as this area, we’re in for something special. Currently, we don’t know when the game will be available, but it’s confirmed to launch on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam.
