The Current Uncanny X-Men, Ranked by Power

As a long-time X-Men fan, I’ve always been amazed by just how strong they are as a team. A big part of that is their huge roster – Marvel is constantly adding new faces or even reimagining existing heroes and villains as X-Men! It’s gotten to the point where they regularly divide into multiple squads to handle different crises, bringing different approaches to the table. Right now, that’s exactly what’s happening. We’ve got Cyclops leading a team of reformed villains up in Alaska, and Rogue is heading up a more traditional group of heroes down in Louisiana. It’s a really interesting dynamic to see both teams operating at the same time.

Cyclops and Rogue are both leading teams of powerful X-Men, and while Cyclops’s team boasts heavy hitters like Juggernaut and Magik, Rogue’s team is certainly no pushover. We’re going to rank Rogue’s Uncanny X-Men based on their potential for raw power – basically, how much damage they can inflict. We’re focusing only on the core X-Men team itself, not the younger group known as the Outliers. Let’s take a look at how Rogue’s team stacks up.

5) Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler is definitely one of my favorite X-Men, often topping my list. However, when it comes to pure destructive power, I have to place him last. While his teleportation and incredible agility are amazing for inventive and impressive fighting styles – like using three swords and quickly appearing and disappearing to disorient enemies – these skills don’t actually deal a lot of damage on their own. Ultimately, Kurt’s fighting ability is about on par with an average person, and his teammates are all capable of much more destruction.

4) Wolverine

Logan, also known as Wolverine, is incredibly skilled and nearly impossible to defeat thanks to his healing ability and adamantium claws. While he’s much stronger than an average person – capable of lifting around two tons – his damage output is limited to what he can reach with his claws. He can certainly take down enemies quickly, but it’s a one-on-one process. Other heroes on this list can inflict far more widespread damage much faster, which ultimately makes them more powerful than Wolverine.

3) Gambit

Gambit is a former thief you definitely don’t want to cross. He has the ability to turn an object’s stored energy into explosive force, essentially making anything he touches a bomb – the bigger the object, the bigger the blast. While he could theoretically charge almost anything, he’s never demonstrated the power to explode something enormous like a mountain. Interestingly, when Gambit was younger, his powers were overwhelming and uncontrollable. He underwent a procedure with Mister Sinister who removed a portion of his brain, reducing his power to a still formidable level. It’s scary to think just how powerful he once was.

2) Jubilee

Jubilee is known for creating fireworks, but her powers are far more significant than they appear. She can generate energy blasts from her hands that vary in size and intensity, ranging from small bursts of colorful sparks to incredibly powerful explosions. As demonstrated in X-Terminators (2022), her maximum potential is comparable to that of a nuclear bomb. Experts like Emma Frost have long believed Jubilee’s energy could reach incredibly small, sub-atomic levels, and she proved them right by destroying the Collector’s Museum Ship with an explosion visible from space. Essentially, Jubilee is a walking nuclear weapon, and that’s incredibly impressive.

1) Rogue

Rogue is the most powerful member of this diverse group, and her strength is truly immense. She’s consistently matched the power of Captain Marvel, but recently gained even more by permanently absorbing Wonder Man’s incredible strength – he’s powerful enough to fight opponents like the Hulk and the Sentry! This allows Rogue to lift well over 100 tons, easily overpowering most enemies. Beyond raw strength, she also has the ability to absorb the powers of others, making her a threat in many different ways, almost like a vampire draining life force.
