A significant amount of expectation surrounds the upcoming movie titled Superman. This movie will primarily revolve around Superman’s cousin as she navigates the universe, but it’s crucial that it also tackles the significant issue concerning Krypton. Given that Superman‘s storyline significantly alters the core narrative of the titular character, which could have far-reaching consequences for years to come.
Superman’s Birth Parents Try to Push Their Son Down a Dark Path
In a world shrouded in shadows, Clark Kent strives to be a guiding light within the narrative of ‘Superman’. He rescues squirrels and cultivates friendships with street vendors, aiming to bring positivity into each life he encounters. This compassionate spirit is instilled in him by his kind-hearted foster parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, along with his biological parents, Jor-El and Lara-El, who dispatched him to Earth with a mission to aid humanity. The mechanical beings at the Fortress of Solitude frequently replay this mission for their supervisor, as they recognize its impact on his emotions. However, antagonist Lex Luthor unearths the message when he infiltrates Superman’s hideout and discovers the hidden second part, which discloses the true intentions of the Kryptonians.
It’s revealed that Jor-El and Lara-El didn’t send their son to Earth to save it, but to rule over it instead. Their plan was for him to marry as many women as he could and teach the ignorant humans how to be subjects. This shocking news deeply affects Superman, especially since the world quickly turns against him. Nevertheless, Superman manages to get back on his feet and saves Metropolis from Lex Luthor and his associates. Once Lex’s evil plans are exposed, the public starts to reconsider their judgement of Superman and embraces him once more. However, things take a turn for the worse when Superman’s cousin arrives at the Fortress of Solitude, causing chaos while taking Krypto. Despite this, Superman fails to question her thoroughly, but he should have, as she may know the truth about their home planet.
Supergirl Knows Krypton Better Than Her Cousin
In most iterations of Supergirl’s tale, Kara Zor-El spends her childhood on Krypton, where she witnesses the birth of her younger relative, Kal-El. As Krypton faces imminent peril, she is placed in a capsule and directed towards Earth, with her kin hoping that she can look after their child. However, due to complications related to time travel, she arrives on Earth significantly later than her cousin, necessitating a race against time to catch up. It has been confirmed by Gunn that this is the storyline his series will follow. The challenge lies in providing an explanation for why she never disclosed to Kal that his parents intended him to rule Earth.
It’s possible that Kara was unaware of her aunt and uncle’s scheme because they may have assumed their message was clear enough without revealing Earth’s grim future to a child. Yet, Jor-El and Lara-El’s casual tone in the message hints that they might not be asking their son to do anything they wouldn’t do themselves. This implies that Kara likely heard some unusual things while growing up, which she should have shared with her cousin, who idolized her birth parents. However, it’s also possible that seeing Kal living contentedly on Earth triggered a change in Kara. Regardless, there’s still room for the DCU to rectify this situation, but as of now, Superman deserves to learn more about his origins.
