The DCU is Adding Another Superman-Level Hero, Who’s Still Never Appeared in Live Action

The DC Universe (DCU) kicked off with shows featuring Superman and Creature Commandos, introducing several powerful characters. While Superman is incredibly strong, others like Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, The Bride, Circe, and Doctor Phosphorus are also formidable. Now, the DCU seems poised to introduce another hero on Superman’s level – a character who hasn’t been seen in live-action before.

According to a new report from Nexus Point News, season 2 of Creature Commandos will introduce several new characters to the DC universe, including the powerful hero Captain Atom. While it’s unclear if Captain Atom will only appear in one episode or throughout the season, the series will feature the Nathaniel Adam version of the character.

Why Creature Commandos Introducing Captain Atom To The DCU Is A Major Deal

Bringing Captain Atom into the DC Universe is significant for several reasons, primarily because of his immense power. He’s among the most powerful characters in the DCU, putting him on a level with Superman, and his abilities could cause widespread devastation if not controlled.

According to reports, this iteration of the character is Nathaniel Adam, a former soldier who gains powers after an experiment fuses an alien metal with his skin, sending him to the future. He frequently acts as a hero working with the U.S. government. This strong military connection can cause friction with other heroes, particularly when they clash with the government or secretive organizations operating within it. For example, in storylines like “Public Enemies,” Captain Atom found himself opposing heroes like Superman.

Captain Atom is incredibly powerful. His metallic skin is nearly impossible to destroy, and he can fire off blasts of quantum energy. He has fine control over these blasts, allowing him to be precise or unleash devastating attacks capable of causing earthquakes or even vaporizing targets.

However, that’s also a weakness. While he’s incredibly durable, specific weapons can penetrate his skin. If they do, the energy sustaining him is released in a massive explosion – essentially a nuclear blast – which disables him until he can recover and rebuild.

This is significant because it marks Captain Atom’s first appearance in the new DC Universe. Considering that characters and storylines are being adapted from animated projects to live-action, this could lead to Captain Atom finally making his live-action debut. He’s been featured in many animated series, but has never appeared in a live-action movie or show, and this sets the stage for that possibility.

It’s still uncertain if Captain Atom will appear, but if he joins the Creature Commandos in season 2, it’s going to be an incredible season to watch.
