20 years later……
Get ready! 20th Century Studios has just released the first trailer for the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada!
What’s The Devil wears Prada 2 about?
The new story centers on Miranda Priestly as she faces off against her former assistant, Emily Charlton, who is now a competitor. They battle for advertising money as the print magazine industry struggles, all while Miranda considers retirement.
Who’s in it?
Nearly twenty years after starring in the beloved film as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are back. They’re returning to New York City and the world of Runway Magazine in a highly anticipated sequel to the 2006 hit that captured a generation’s attention.
That cast list in full….plus some rumours
The sequel brings back the original cast alongside director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna. It also features a fresh group of new faces, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman are returning as their characters Lily and Irv from the first movie, and there’s buzz that Sydney Sweeney and Lady Gaga will also appear.
Fun Facts about the original film
Meryl Streep received an Oscar nomination for her performance in the 2006 film, and it helped launch Emily Blunt’s career (many felt she deserved an Oscar nomination too, though she was nominated for a BAFTA). The costume designer from the first film, Patricia Field, didn’t work on the sequel. She had been Oscar-nominated for her work on the original, and Molly Rogers, a frequent collaborator, took over costume design for this film.
The film debuts exclusively in cinemas on 1st May 2026.
