Get ready for some summer laughs! A first look has been revealed for The Dink, the highly anticipated movie about pickleball. Starring Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Harris, the film will be available worldwide starting July 24th.
Apple TV recently shared a new image and announced the release date for their upcoming movie, The Dink. But what’s the film actually about? Given that Ben Stiller, who made Dodgeball, is producing, it might seem like a classic underdog story – and here’s the official plot summary.
Dusty Boyd, a former tennis star whose career never quite took off, now spends his days coaching kids at his father Chuck’s country club. He’s eager to impress his dad, so he initially backs Chuck’s dislike of the increasingly popular game, pickleball. However, when an old injury prevents him from playing tennis, Dusty reluctantly tries pickleball as a way to recover. To his surprise, and with the help of a charming new partner, Candace, he actually starts to enjoy it. This puts him in a difficult position, forcing him to confront his past failures and a rivalry with tennis legend Andy Roddick. Ultimately, Dusty finds himself in a fight to save the country club, win his father’s approval, and rediscover who he is.
Ben Stiller not only directed the movie but also stars alongside Dwayne Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, John Harris, and Nick Roddick. The film also features a talented supporting cast, including Patton Oswalt, Chloe Fineman, Chris Parnell, and Aaron Chen.
‘The Dink’ Continues Ben Stiller’s Impressive Run at Apple TV

Apple
Ben Stiller remains a prominent figure in Hollywood, and he’s recently achieved significant success working behind the camera, particularly with Apple TV. He’s partnered with the streaming service on projects like Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, a documentary honoring his parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. But his most popular Apple TV project is a hit sci-fi comedy set in an office environment that viewers just can’t stop watching.
If you haven’t heard of it, that show is called Severance, and it’s been a huge hit for Apple TV+. After two successful seasons, it’s become one of the most popular shows on television. While everyone is waiting for Season 3, director Ben Stiller announced last year that he won’t be directing it, realizing he simply doesn’t have enough time.
